LS2 coil wiring harness

Anyone use the harness on Ebay to convert to LS2 coils yet? Thinking about trying it out since my coils just went bad but not sure if they make a quality product?

why didn't you just buy it from BHR they have the whole ignition system, it is a plug and play system.
here is the link:http://blackhaloracing.com/products-...tion-system21/

otakurx 07-19-2010 10:31 AM

^ agreed, support the vendors, buy the BHR harness or whole kit

laythor 07-19-2010 10:45 AM

if you have the skills to fab your own bracket to hold the coils and happen to have the coils lying around...

the coils aren't cheap, just FYI

check out BHR http://blackhaloracing.com/products-...tion-system21/

the warranty they offer for this kit makes it an easy decision

The issue is the plug wires. If you go this route it would be better IMO to get longer harness wiring and custom mount the coils down near the sparkplugs. This would allow you to use readily available short length Corvette plug wires, which is really the right way to do it. At least you can remove the wires to check their resistance etc without having to worry about damaging them due to the weak connector some kit suppliers are using. The GM truck coils aren't that expensive. Mounting them is relatively easy if you have the skills and tools.

Or drinking the magic koolaid is also an option ....

When I was 14, I built my own computer from scratch.
When I was 16/17, I would build my own guitar effects.
When I was 23 I built a futon from stuff thrown out at a lumber yard.
When I was in my late-20's, I cobbled together a working cell phone out of broken parts.
etc.

These days, I just drink the koolaid.

So, Team, what was the last thing you built yourself that was commercially available? Was it superior to the available component? Did it last as long? Was it actually cheaper and, if so, did the cost-over-time mitigate the inconvenience?

I think you should be using my avatar. I have another similar one if you would like that one?

laythor 07-19-2010 12:39 PM

The kool aide is yummy and even better from the tap

Flashwing 07-19-2010 01:08 PM

For reference, Black Halo Racing no longer offers the plug and play wiring harness or D585 spark plug wires separate from our kit.

I simply voiced my non-commercial interest opinion *if* the OP decides to pursue this. I didn't voice my opinion on whether or not it should be pursued. FWIW I run the OE coils and am confident in that decision.

TeamRX8 07-19-2010 08:50 PM

If I wanted to sack swing I wouldn't be coy about it. This subject cant even be discussed without the the four Privateers jumping in with their swords swinging I have always chosen to do just the opposite on this particular subject, having never explicitly telling anyone my specific thoughts on the matter. I sent back my setup to you pending release of better wires. I didn't know about it because you never bothered to let me know. If I wanted to take a swing at BHR I have no hesitation of doing so openly. If everybody here is convinced it's the better way to go that's fine by me. Again, I never told anybody whether or not to do it. I just voiced my opinion on how I thought it should be done if he does decide to pursue it. I suppose it bears merit that the person originally conceived the idea of using LS2 coils back in early 2005 was me, but it was ultimately brought to fruition by Jeff and yourself.

Wait, I was just expressing a non-commercial fact. For the record, I would prefer to be thought of as a swashbuckling pirate.

That's why I always refer to the Black Halo team as BHaaaarrrr!

laythor 07-19-2010 10:43 PM

Todd, you are thought of as a pirate. A certain kind of pirate...

TeamRX8 07-20-2010 07:33 PM

WTF are you talking about????

You have repeatedly offered me free parts and i have, with the exception of the free coil wiring adaptors that you offered from the initial production batch and I accepted, repeatedly turned them down because I don't want to be shackled from speaking my mind openly.

You really have a lot of nerve. I've spent a small fortune building my RX-8. I've never known you to be a liar, but if you stand by that statement this makes you the biggest g-d d-mn liar on this forum.

Sure you would. Manipulating vendors for your own personal gain (as in lower prices) is your M/O, as it is so many others around here. I just have balls big enough to tell you to "Fuck yourself" as your input is devoid of any tangible value, like usual.

I have no clue why you sent your "set-up" (which was NOT BHR system, btw) back to me as you failed to include anything but a note expressing frustration with your "DIY" set up. I have posted, ad nauseum, about the plug terminal issues and the upgrades we have employed. That didn't stop you from speaking/posting out of ignorance, again, as usual.

Take your swings; we have invited them from Day One, from you and anyone else, and have been the ONLY vendor around here willing to do so.

You verified the concept and have been been rewarded for it, even in public, as is BHR's policy. Those who help us develop new product and ideas are always rewarded.

Ask anybody on this forum; BHR has never taken an unscrupulous dime from anyone and has, in fact, been screwed by every vendor worth a damn around here as a result of our previous "professional courtesy" policy.

No longer.

I want to know what KoolAid you have been drinking.

You know, I have been seeing that metaphor used with increasing regularity, usually in an ad hominum attack suggesting the recollection of the 'drinker' is somehow addled, or more appropriate, that said person has created an altered reality inconsistent with easily observed fact. I would like to take this opportunity to remind those of a metaphorical nature that the 'Koolaid' that was drunk refers to the Fruit Punch- and almond-flavored beverage imbibed by the residents of Jonestown shortly before their demise.

Hence, if Mark had drank any beverage laced with poison, he would be dead, not mentally impaired. This is hardly useful from a descriptive standpoint.

Perhaps "I would like to know what controlled substances you have been ingesting?" would have been more appropriate?

Now that that is cleared up, please resume your internet arguing.

It is on my bucket list, or rather that list of things to do to get my goddam turbo from Jeef. Srsly, tho, I would like to do that in conjunction with a sevenstock run or someother car related cruise. Hard to consider currently with a 1yr old.

Indeed!

RX8YA 07-21-2010 02:06 PM

So they are trying to kill mark or they just want to know where to get the koolaid to give to others? Is this a new product offering?

It's too bad I took down my MSD thread. It really showed the genesis of the LS1 project.
That thread was out-of-date and I didn't want to lead people down the wrong path, so I deleted it.
