rotary32 09-08-2005 11:59 PM

ya .... im a noob. just got the 8 six or seven months ago. i used the search and found a lot on exhaust.... just having a hard time makin up my mind.

IZoomZoomI 09-09-2005 01:04 AM

love your avatar lol :)

I see you're from the bay area, keep an eye on the west coast forums, we have meets sometimes, and you get to hear a lot of different exhausts in person.

For now you can visit mazdatrix, they got some soundclips there, and if you search in the multi media section there is a thread on soundclips of certain exhausts. Overall the deepest is borla, but I think you'll like racing beat with the high flow cat combo, deep and gets you some decent gains in hp too.

LiL BenNy 09-09-2005 07:16 PM

just installed SR motor sports high flow cat and greddy exhaust love the sound..... not as loud as i thought it would be.. people tend to make it sound like its going to be as loud as some riced up civic... it sounds very deep and im very pleased with the sound.

XeRo 09-09-2005 08:34 PM

Espelir...awesome sounding..

rotary32 09-10-2005 01:06 AM

what do you all think about racing beat ?? sounds nice to me .... any dissadvantages when compared to others

IZoomZoomI 09-10-2005 05:08 AM

The only disadvantage I can think of is the weight, it is slightly heavier than stock.

10 lbs heavier as measured by one of our members

Moostafa29 09-10-2005 10:29 AM

I have the racing beat exhaust, rotary performance high flow cat combo and LOVE the way it sounds. Not to loud or ricey, but a pretty intimidating tone. I definitely recommend it. With the weight you save from taking out the stock cat, it offsets the heavy ass racing beat exhaust.

RB is 10 lbs. heavier than stock?! Holy... Good thing I got GReddy SP2 :)

I really like the SP2. From searching around the forums I seriously thought it was gonna be WAY louder, but it's pretty quiet. Now I have to get a Hi-Flow cat to make it just a little louder to suit my tastes.

I think the SP2 is 5 lbs. lighter than stock. And the muffler tips are huge!!! I love them! ^^

rotary32 09-10-2005 02:58 PM

is 10 pounds really that big of a deal for street applications??

johnnylee3 09-10-2005 04:23 PM

i don't think 10lbs makes that much of a difference as for daily driving and tracking it every now and then. but if you want to be big baller and save all the weight you can, go with full titanium.

8 is enough 09-10-2005 05:09 PM

I am in the same boat as . I have searched the forum and still in the air on which to buy. I suggest looking at the exhuast in person. The SP2 looks funny to me. I do not like the oval exhuast tips. Personal preference. Wish you luck.

r0tor 09-10-2005 05:29 PM

just get a RP supercat and keep the stock catback

Moostafa29 09-10-2005 05:54 PM

I still recommend the RB exhaust, and get yourself a bottle of chrome polish while you are at it. I use turtle wax chrome polish, but I think a lot of people use Nverdull.

I see you're in Dublin. Take drive to Rick's Rotary Performance in Pleasanton (on Valley/Bernal at intersection with Stanley). Rick's very knowledgable. He carries Racing Beat stuff, but he's a straight shooter. Tell him your goals and preferences and he'll point you in the right direction.

Bob
PS: I live in P-town and I have Rick do all my service.

rotary32 09-11-2005 12:07 AM

if i go to ricks rotary in pleasonton.. can i order and pick up the racing beat exhaust...??
and if i order it through him any idea on install??
that is near the pleasonton fairgrounds right?

Moostafa29 09-11-2005 12:14 AM

I'm pretty sure he does exhaust installs, but its a pretty easy mod to do it yourself. Unless you don't have the time, I recommend doing it yourself.

rotary32 09-11-2005 12:55 AM

i suppose i could with my busted up jack stands... i only have two though.
i know its just a bolt on... but it could be tricky in my situation

by the way moostafa, i saw some pics of your car.. looks nice.. wish i had the money to work on my car right away

Thanks for the compliment.

You can totally do it on two jackstands. Hell, if you lift it high enough, you can probably do it on one, but thats probably the ghetto in me :D
