List of Oil filters !

Well, because the OP of the other post never updated his list. and I think Im here more than the site owner .... so I just gonna start another one.

I start this in the Aftermarket Performance Modification because I think most of these oil filters should be considered as aftermarket ... performance maybe ....

Anyway, here you go

- AC Delco PF2135
- AMSOil SMF103
- Bosch 3300 (2.5 Standard) Bosch 3323 (3.25 Taller)
- Carquest 85365
- Carquest 85358
- Fram PH6607
- Fram Tough Guard TG6607
- K&N Gold HP-1008*(Standard)
- K&N Gold HP-1010 (taller) Note : All K&N filters can be taken off with a 1" Socket
- Mada OEM Filter* (Duh, what do you think ?)
- Mazdaspeed Oil Filter
- Mobil 1 M1-108 (2.5, standard) Mobil 1 M1-110 (3.25, taller)
- NAPA 1365 (According to LabDad, this seems to be the same size as OEM)
- NAPA 1358 (according to User24, it seems to fit but it has one extra set of thread)
- Purolator PL14612 (2.5, Standard) PL14610 (3.25, Taller)
- STP SMO 17
- WalMart SuperTech ST7317
- WiX 51365* (standard)
- WiX 51358 (Maybe bigger? perfect fitment unknown)

* - asterisk sign, that means I tried them before and it fits as OEM.
Standard - it means that the size should be the same as Mazda's OEM filter.
Taller - it means it should fit, but these filters has extra space for "maybe" more filtration and longer filter life ?

Get the Mobil 1.

I have a co-worker who a few years ago actually looked into the manufacturers, and it ended up that 1 company makes most of them. So he contacted them and got this big report on them, and the Mobil 1 was the only one really made to higher standards.

I will contact him and see if I can get the report to post.

this isn't based on very scientific data but i feel my car runs the best with the standard size purolator pure one or mazda oem filter. i tried the mobil 110 extended filter but my 8 didn't really like it too much.

fwiw i run idemitsu 10W-30 full syntethic oil

Thanks buddy.
BTW might want to update the NAPA Gold one to their 1365 filter instead of 1358. Same reason as what you have listed for the WIX.

I have both the NAPA Gold 1365 and WIX 51365 in hand right now and they are the exact same filter. I picked up the NAPA Golds for my RX-8 but happened to find the WIX available at a discount store yesterday so I got one to compare.

List, has been updated :)

There is also the Mazdaspeed Oil filter

phxtravis 05-03-2007 09:54 AM

The NAPA 1365 is the same as the Carquest 85365 and Wix 51365.
The NAPA 1358 is the same as the Carquest 85358 and Wix 51365.

Wix makes the filters for Carquest and NAPA, they just rebox them. I can tell you right now there are atleast 3 manufacturers of filters....Wix, whomever makes the FRAM, and the K&N's are also made by a different company.

Honeywell makes fram

Here's the spec sheets for each...
http://www.wixfilters.com/filterloo....asp?Part=51365
http://www.wixfilters.com/filterloo....asp?Part=51358

If you don't want to click here is the differences between the 51365 vs 51358

Height - 2.57 / 2.78
OD - 2.685 / 2.685
Bypass valve PSI - 8-11 / 8
Flow Rate GPM - 9-11 / 8-10
Burst Pressure PSI - 300 / 265
Nominal Micro Rating - 19 / 14

Seems like the correct filter (51365) seems like the higher grade piece.

This is from the other oil filter thread. With respect to the NAPA Gold, WIX, etc. filters (all manufactured by WIX) it seems the smaller (5)1365 filter has a better flow rate and higher burst pressure rating than the (5)1358 filters.

I don't know. Why didn't you just google it and contribute to the thread rather than asking to be spoon fed?

I did comprehensive reading and examination over available filters in today market.
My vote is on Mann w610/2 as it has all other filters have + it has extra anti drain valve and bigger surface area.

One million dollar question, how many return/ check valve they have ?

TeamRX8 05-11-2020 08:04 AM

if it’s really that big of a deal why don’t you just get a remote mount with the filter connection that let’s you run the filter you think is best rather than being limited to one that uses the OE connection/location?

It’s not rock science, bub ...
