K&N Typhoon increase your mileage?
Has anyone found that the K&N Typhoon intake helped your mileage? I had a '94 Integra and when I put an AEM SRI on there, I picked up 2-3 mpg.
I did a search but didn't really find an answer. |
i think intakes actually help mpg when you drive the car like you did b4 you got the intake, but most people usually drive harder since they want to hear it,therefore getting lower mpg numbers.

my mileage
stayed similar with the K&N intake |
Mine's about the same. An "impressive" 14 mpg average...

I installed my K&N but now drive it harder... just like redlinin 8 said! So the mileage stayed within the same range of 15mpg.
I did take the car down to the shore a few weeks ago and averaged 21 mpg. I also got to 136 mph and she was steady as she goes. :) |
Will the K&N Intake void your warranty ? How much HP does it gain ? 4 hp ?

K&N mileage
My average mileage went from about 16 to about 17.5 with the typhoon, but I put it in near the end of the break-in period, and the mileage had been increasing gradually anyway (I think I got about 13 or 14 on my first tank)
Of course, highway is much much better than city (I can make OC to Vegas on a tank if traffic is moving), and I probably don't redline as often as I should.... |
after the 'M' flash I get 18-19 mpg,city/hwy-driving hard....and the oil from the Typhoon can impede the 8's intake sensors,so imo I wouldn't (and didn't) bother (I returned mine,unopened-)

mileage about the same-noise factor a bummer
