K&N mpg increase ?

I noticed my mpg increased after I installed my k&n intake ... I usually do 200-205 miles on a full tank but now I'm doing 220-225miles .... Does anyone else experienced this ? Or is my car losing power/hp and taking up less gas ?? Maybe a leakage ? :(

The encrease of mpg is the effect of making your wankel more efficient. A motor is an air pump basicly, the easyer air in and air out makes better efficiency. Adding an intake doesnt increase power it simply gives back the power you loose from a restrictive intake. Now with a less restrictve intake but still driving normally would increase mpg because the engine doesnt have to work as hard to get air in. Adding an exhaust would also have the same effect to some point, and would be better well suited to a free flowing intake to make the motor more efficient.

or maybe it's cuz the weather is warmer now?

Generally the K&N Filter is good for an extra mpg or so.

Also there are other facotors in gaining or reducing mpg. a lighter car with the same motor will have a better mpg. Allignment can also affect you mpg. Tire air pressure can affect mpg. Temperture can affect mpg. Driving styles and air pressure also affect mpg. There is so many things tha affect mpg but if you compare 1 year with out your intake to 1 year with your intake. The year with your intake most times will yield more mpg. Now all of this is to some degree.

With every car i had and others i havent an intake gave more mpg till the point when the gas was mashed then it went bye bye

i had been driving it consistently to school and work...i keep my car empty (no unnecessary junk/ nothing in the car at all )tire pressure is constant, check it everyweek...... if that so that means , everything is ok ? :uhh: im just worried if something was wrong :(

another problem is ...when i stop the car , turn off , take key out , lock door, walk away ...suddenly , i can hear the fan/cooling fan turning on ....been doing it for a while now ...i just put my key in and turn to on(without starting the car) and then take the key out again ...and it will stop ....only happened after i installed the intake ...is my car over heating so it needs to cool it even after i shutdown ? any idea what's causing the fan to turn on after i shutdown ?

If its hot out or you went for an aggressive drive the fans will come on to cool the motor even after the engie has stopped. Its perfectly normal most imports have this feature.
Its kinda the same reason a turbo car should have a turbo timer but thats just to stop coking oil in the turbo.

if your rotary was overheating you would kno instantly.

DO NOT STOP THE FANS let them run they will shut off its good for the motor. the ecu controls everthing and would report a problem otherwise.

hmm ....good advice ...i only did it twice coz i was worried it would drain the battery...the first time , i let it run ....it ran for a good 10 min ...

^^ i bought a fan with a timer that i place in my garage for that...
this way, it also saves the life of the fan motor. i put it right in front more over to the passenger oil cooler.
