Just ordered RB Exhaust..

Well I finally broke down and bought an exhaust for the 8, Went with Racing Beat, I thought I had made a good choice, but then I read posts on here and no one likes the RB, did I make too fast of a decision? Racing Beat just seemed to be the best quality. I did not want too much sound but I did want it to make some noise when I get on it. Also did anyone have to wait a long time to get their exhaust in the mail?

NgoRX8 11-25-2005 01:22 AM

What are you talking about that no one likes the RB? That's absurd!

I have it, just have to put it on.

IZoomZoomI 11-25-2005 02:02 AM

I think he just read that one post made by dmp. Other than that I never really hear anything negative about rb, besides the discoloration issue but that's with all the exhausts out there. Good choice imo, I've heard rb in person and really liked it the tips are pretty big though.

quallity wise Most major companys have great quallity

I'm not really a fan of the RB exhaust, but hey whatever floats your boat

Ole Spiff 11-25-2005 10:38 AM

I got it; have never regretted it. Looks great, sounds great...and combined with their REVi intake system, works better than stock.

Tirminyl 11-25-2005 10:44 AM

I think some people don't like the RB exhaust because it is heavier than stock, while all other kits are lighter. I don't know what the hell RB was thinking. Also, your just buying a refinished stock exhaust thats heavy. I personally think it is a waist of money.

TeamRX8 11-25-2005 11:05 AM

sucker!

Mazda-Rati 11-25-2005 11:06 AM

^^i'm heavier than stock. does this mean i'm a waist of money??

the RB is great quality, has perfect looking tips and the sound increase fits the car just fine. mine got to my door in a week from RB.

Refinished stock exhaust? I am not sure I am following your logic? Every exhaust is relatively the same?

As for weight, you guys are making too much of it. This is weight down low and in the rear, hardly the worse place to have it and not something you would notice. Losing weight on the exhaust would be part of a larger strategy but not critical or a priority due to its placement and location. The weight of the exhaust would be of concern if you already addressed it everywhere else and for that RB now offers a lightweight solution.

If you are concerned with weight, look at wheels, tires, suspension, drivetrain, and going on a diet.

For the record, I am highly satisfied with my RB exhaust.

Well, I am glad you feel nice and cozy about your purchase. PM me your address and I will send you a biscuit.

Behold the most useless reply ever. :)

I have the RB exhaust, as well as the REVi and ram air. Took about a week for me to get everything from Mazdaparts.com. I have no regrets and I like 'em more every day.

Behold the 2nd most useless reply ever. :)

That so-called extra 10 lbs under there isn't going to make a difference in speed. It looks and sounds good nevertheless. It's preference, some people may like it, while others may not.

mdaj, you have already made your presense known that you think rb exhaust is a waste of money. You do not need to continue here.

SoloMazda8 11-25-2005 10:16 PM

Thanks, I feel like I made a good decision, I will want to pick a supercat from Rotary performance tho, after watching that vid.

IZoomZoomI 11-25-2005 10:27 PM

supercat and rb sounds like a beast! Heard it and love it.

Moostafa29 11-26-2005 12:45 AM

I have it and love it. Its much more mellow with a turbo though.

\\Konig\\ 11-26-2005 12:54 AM

I have the rb exhaust. It isn't too loud, maybe a bit too quiet actually, but I do not regret buying it at all.

Whitehot 11-26-2005 07:32 AM

The RP supercat does make a great addition to the exhaust and intake. They sound great together. The car is still pretty quiet cruising around, but it really screams when you open it up. :D: My other cars were just loud all the time and it can get annoying.

Have you looked at the SR Motorsports high flow cat? It comes with the front mounting bracket unlike the RP supercat. That is why guys were cutting the stock one off and welding it on the RP.

BoosTED 11-26-2005 08:19 AM

Racing Beat is decent, it is all stainless unlike stock so it is also going to last longer for the everything behind the tips. The stock is only SS for the tips. I had mine up on a hoist a couple of days ago and noticed the pipes have corrosion on them just before the tips.
Greddy SP2 is coming today, I hope. Will install it next Wednesday with the SR Motorsports high flow cat. :)

Mazda-Rati 11-28-2005 11:27 AM

4 years to supercharge, let us know what you think of the SR cat. i've been waiting for RP to add the hanger to their system after all the complaints with it banging, but i thnk they don't care. i'd rather spend $100 more for SR to not go wait at a shop for a $30 weld job RP should have done.

Jaguar_MBA 11-28-2005 12:26 PM

The concern I have in buying an exhaust, other then Racing Beat's, is as follows:

From Racing Beat's web site:"During the prototyping of our RX-8 exhaust, we kept hearing claims of rather large HP gains from other aftermarket exhaust systems. Since we were not observing gains anywhere near some of these claims, we decided to obtain two of these systems for our own reference. One of the systems performed as expected and produced around 3 HP, as did the RB prototype unit. However, the other system did not fare as well and actually produced less power than stock!"

My concern is buying another exhaust system and suppose you buy the system that reduces your HP. That means you just spent ~$600 for a ~negative 2HP...which means You need to spend another $600 to get back to stock, then another $600 to get to +3.5HP. Total estimated cost of the gamble~mistake ~=$1,800 if you buy the wrong exhaust system. Or you can just buy the Racing Beat exhaust and take the sure gain for $600.00

1st) Anybody have any clue as to which exhaust will lose you HP?
2nd)RB dynoed the other exhaust systems before the RB one was completed......who was offering exhaust systems before RB's was completed?
3rd)When did RB first start selling the RB Exhaust?

SoloMazda8 11-28-2005 12:58 PM

I also saw that on on RB's site, I went with RB cause what they said just made sense. Also, I ordered my Rev 8 form rx8store.net last monday, they havent even taken the money out yet, and its been a week, anyone else have this problem?
