Intake & Exhaust now = wasted $$ after FI?
Anyone know if I get a new intake eg, REVi, and Exhaust now. will they be made redundant or retired when I get FI, eg RAP AF SC or Hymee Twin Screws?
Or will they enhance the performace of the FI system I choose later.
Or will they enhance the performace of the FI system I choose later.

I think there are problems with FI and the high-flow cats and midpipes. Backfiring seems to be the issue but can possibly be eliminated through tuning the A/F.

As a matter of fact i wrote Greddy just a little while ago. They have several different types of exhaust. The SP2 is made for NA cars. The EVOTT is their unit for an NA car with an aftermarket turbo kit. They said no ETA, but they are hoping to get one out around Sept.
For the original question, if you get intake & exhaust, the intake part will have to be taken out, the exhaust part you can still use.

You shouldn't bother with the rev8 intake or exhaust if you plan on going FI. That's almost a $1000 right there. You should grab the rp super cat midpipe instead.

I think the only reason RB made that comment is that noise was a design consideration for them, and with a turbo, you can worry about that a bit less, so given that they may have been able to make it flow a bit better. Fanman is right though...ALL currently available aftermarket RX-8 exhausts have been designed around a NA application, unless they were just thrown together from off-the-shelf parts, in which case they weren't "tuned" at all.

Hopefully, down the line Greddy will be able to test a EVOTT unit for those of us who have the turbo kit. This should be the optimum unit for us, as it is supposed to be designed with the Greddy/aftermarket turbo kit in mind.

Most exhausts for this car are going to be less efficient and just as costly as going custom.
You can get custom 3" from the turbo-back for $1000 ($400 for high flow cat and midpipe, $600 for exhaust) from almost any real performance shop.

cretinx you bring up a good point as you can get your catback made to suit your application. i would love a catback that gained at least 3-4hp, was compatible with a turbo and was quad tip
