Which Intake Do You Like Best?

I am curious to hear other members' opinions on which CAI Brand they feel is the best.

I currently have a K&N Typhoon Intake, but thinking about switching to something else, so I am interested to see what other people feel is the best CAI for an 8.

Gr8Bullet 05-18-2010 03:08 PM

cold air intake

klanham08 05-18-2010 03:18 PM

Sorry, I gotta change my original post. I meant to say what BRAND of CAI do you like best?

mscamp02 05-18-2010 03:20 PM

either aem or oem wth k&n drop in filter

Gr8Bullet 05-18-2010 03:21 PM

oem with k&n drop in w/rb air duct.

i like my full RB intake

klanham08 05-18-2010 03:22 PM

I've been really thinking about getting an AEM.

Could I add the RB Duct onto my K&N or AEM if I get one?

Jedi54 05-18-2010 03:26 PM

Step 1: get rid of your K&N hot air intake.

Either the AEM or Racing Beat are your best choices; they are hands down the best intakes offered for our cars. I would know, I've had both.
As for which one is 'better'? That's subjective as they both accomplish the same goal in diffeent manners: get more cold air into the engine.

It comes down to preference and looks. The RB is great for retaining that 'sleeper / stock' look while the AEM is a bit flashier.
I changed from RB to AEM simply because the AEM was more accomodating to my next round of mods. :suspect:

other random thoughts:
do you live in an area where you might have to drive in heavy rain or near large puddles? Some people with the AEM have experienced issues with the filter getting soaked.
If you get the RB, make sure to get the duct to take full advantage of it.
Also, the AEM is a 'dry' filter where are as the RB uses an K&N filter that you clean and oil.

"Modded" stock box with RB Duct.

I live in MD, so we sometimes get some decent amount of Rain. I like my intake now, but it was on the car when I purchased it and I want to change it to something that I want rather than what was already on there. So now I am torn between AEM or RB, but I also want the Intake Duct as well.

MarcMiller 05-18-2010 04:21 PM

Right now all i have on my 8 is an AEM intake and its pretty loud. Everyone says mines louder than the RB cai..so if you want something alittle louder..AEM.

I noticed a little better acceleration with my intake also.

I really like the RB Revi with the duct.
Quiet at moderate throttle but you can hear it at WOT.
Racing Beat engineers some great products that go well with the car.
Oh and butt-dyno approved.

Glad to hear you're liking the RB. Racing Beat takes a lot of pride in their work and I've always purchased from them with confidence.

Thats what I'm using at the moment, along with a Green air filter.

klanham08 05-18-2010 04:55 PM

Wish I had a stock intake. I still have the part that attaches the Engine Cover, is that the Modded part?

After a week full of research. I got a Injen Cold air intake. Its sounds so good. And I can tell a power difference. I also didnt think I would be able to install it my self. But it came with step by step installing just for you car. $303 is what I paid for it on Ebay.
