Instruction : Test Pipe

Hey guys, was wondering if someone has ever put a test pipe on his rx8 ?

Is it easy and what do i need to do? I can lift the car easy no problems, i do my oil change myself, but i am not very experimented in exhaust. So i know its just a piece of metal but if someone has experience that i can benefit of, it would be welcome. (I already know that a CELL will pop on and will have to buy a cobb acess port to remove it.)

(sorry for my english)
:Peace:

Stay away from the OBX midpipe, it is garbage. I had to bend the portion of the pipe that meets with the catback inwards all the way around and still was required strip off several inner layers of the OEM gasket to get the gasket to fit.

If you have the stock cat back it will sound raspy and awful. If you have an aftermarket catback it will be loud as hell. I don't foresee my pipe lasting very long based on the quality of the metal used, especially with turbo EGTs. Even for a pipe you get what you pay for, I'd recommend saving up for the BHR resonated midpipe.

Alright, i already bought it, damn... i will try it and if its not good i will ship it back to the seller to be refunded, hope i will have more chance with it, wonder if i should buy a magnaflow catback with it or it will be too loud ? Wich one would be better for the sound ?

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/bhr-midpipe-170605/ not cheap BHR, but like you said you get what you pay for

Seen on youtube, "OBX rx8 test pipe" its not that bad, but could be a more deep and clean sound...

J8635621 04-05-2011 09:30 AM

Volume doesn't translate well over youtube.

Jean-christophe rozon 04-05-2011 09:31 AM

What do you want to say j8 ?

J8635621 04-05-2011 09:32 AM

I'm saying youtube is not the best place to determine how something sounds. It can give you an idea of the sound but volume doesn't come across very well.

Jean-christophe rozon 04-05-2011 09:38 AM

True, well i'l see when i will try it myself, it will be my first experience with exhaust, I wish i will appreciate it.

My uncle have a mazdaspeed 3 and he put a test pipe similar to mine, i think its an obx, and the sound is not much more different, just more louder.

Jean-christophe rozon 04-05-2011 11:46 AM

Only big question, will it make a noticeable difference in torque/horse ?

J8635621 04-05-2011 11:52 AM

If I had a canadian quarter for everytime that has been asked, I would have a ton of canadian quarters.

It applies to everything, especially things that need to fit

Jean-christophe rozon 04-06-2011 09:43 AM

i will try it and post if its good

J8635621 04-06-2011 09:44 AM

Go cheap on product and pay a lot for fitment or pay a lot for product and have cheap fitment. I'd rather have a good product because it will be worth more in the end.

dezau 05-07-2011 03:43 AM

why are you looking for everything on ebay? lol
