Installed RX-8store.com exhaust

First impression: excellent build quality, very quick shipping

At start up comes a nice little purr. Sort of reminded me of my friends old TL1000 with race muffler only with a deeper tone.

At idle, same purr not intrusive at all.

It is moderately loud when accelerating, but has such a nice tone. I could still listen to the CD player at my "normal" volume (13 for the Miles Davis CD I had in there, it's kind of quiet, 8-10 is where I usually keep it for cruising and for the radio that was sufficient with the exhaust as well). I could still hear the rotary whine under acceleration. In fact the volume seemed to decrease as RPM went toward redline (it seems to be at its loudest under 4000rpm)

Cruising at 55-75: once up to speed I could hardly hear it at all, which was very nice (i imagine after 5 or 600 miles even a sweet exhaust note would begin to get old).

As far as power is concerned, I don't believe in "butt dynoing" cars, there's just no reliability in it. If my Gtech wasn't being stupid i could compare, but my stock hp runs were very inconsistent (ranging anywhere from 100hp/88tq to 198hp/187tq), and after 6 tries i gave up. The exhaust did however get rid of some low end stuttering I was plagued with when decellerating, which is very nice :) .

All in all i consider this an excellent purchase. And i hope my review is helpful. I tried to give a sense of how loud the exhaust is since that seems to be the concern of a lot of people.

Thanks for the review, how did you come about and making the RX8store exhuast the one for you?

Since all current manufacturer's were claiming similar gains, I basically made the choice based on the sound clip and price.

Nice choice, Therm8!! I'm glad that the sound clip inspired you to choose this exhaust!! Ditto on the price being a factor. I have posted my thoughts several times regarding this exhaust but most of this forum seems to go for the big names. Not really suprised by that but I do think that our sound clip sounds the best thusfar.

Though, to me, the 'butt dyno' means a heck of alot. If it feels faster to me than that's what matters. If it's 5hp or 20hp, I could really care less. Numbers are for bragging rights and that has never meant sqaut to me. What I 'feel' when I'm behind the wheel is what is the most important to me. If someone tells me that I'm getting 20hp but it doesn't feel any faster than whats the point, right?

On the flip side of this, and for irony's sake, I am heading back over to RX8Store sometime soon, to finish the dyno runs, with Jason, on the exhaust as well as CanZoomers Stage 1. We give the public what the public wants I suppose. :)

Dookie - Go to the RX8Store in the Venders Forum. The sound clip will be there. I have video of the dyno runs from when we put the exhaust on my car. They will be coming soon. They are really cool and the exhaust sounds amazing!
