An OUTSTANDING product ! Couldnt believe how fast the car started up the first time. I really wasnt expecting much from this upgrade, but the engine is definitely smoother throughout the powerband, and seems to pull more firmly at the top. Product is top notch quality, and Charles from BHR is extremely helpful and fast responding to emails. If it's time for new coils, this is a MUST have !

Install was very easy, just dont forget to install that ground wire !

You should state some informations about your previous ignition setup like mileage, maintenance done to it etc, otherwise other people may be disappointed. Some of your symptoms were probably caused by worn coils\old wires and plugs
With that said, i have over 30 track hours on the coils and they're still holding fine. Definitely a product that each rx8 should have.

Are the spark plugs supposed to be replaced at regular maintenance frequency when using the BHR ignition system?

^that must really say something about this product... if there are that many threads to **** you off.

I was sitting at 24k miles on stock coils/ plugs. It was time because i could hear the 'chirping' at low rpm's on cold days. No more chirping !

I'd have them myself but the price is just to prohibitive. Everything I've gotten from BHR is top notch.

this is a nice reinforcement for me as i received my BHR ignition about a week ago. I'm at 30,000 miles and it's painful sometimes to hear Rex start up. it immediately jumps to 2200 rpms until it settles down to 900. I can also feel it cut in and out at 5-7000 RPM. i dont trust myself with installing it so i'm waiting for my intake to get here then i have it done by someone who i trust with it haha. def looking forward to it!

^I'm sorry. Have you not been reading? I'm pretty sure people are just talking out their *** with reviews, because the product is only "ok"

Is buying the BHR ignition kit really worth the ~$500 compared to buying standard coils, plugs, and wires for ~$250-300?

^ with the bhr kit you'll most likely never have to swap out coils for the remainder of your car's life..

Which im hoping is much longer, but my car is ~86k miles, an 05shinka. lol....bought it at 64k. so i want to change coils/plugs/wires....i have another thread about my CAT because a little over a week ago i got the P0420 code, which cleared itself....but you know its still there somewhere.

so i am on an ultimatum of getting a CAT or this BHR iginition set first. (if its worth it for me at 86k miles)

http://www.rx7.com/store/rx8/rx8exhaust.html top one is the CAT i was goona get.

The good thing about the BHR kit is if you car dies you can sell the BHR separately and as long as the Stock ones have not failed you can just put them in before you sell the car.
