injen intake

got mine :) i like it. i can feel it a little in the higher rpm's. has anybody dyno'd it yet?

hows the sound?

Aw we're hi-jacking katie's thread now? Let the poor girl have her dyno sheets!

katiewagg 10-22-2008 12:55 AM

thanks rollerbldes. :)

evil twinkie take your personal problems elsewhere. if you are complaining about how immature o6 rx8 is then why are you following his posts and posting things after him antagonizing the situation?i believe that is immature and stupid.

06 rx8 it sounds really nice. i also have an agency power race pipe but ill post up a video so you can hear it within this week!

psst...katie...dont worry, i clean up after myself...now if your attached to teh stupid...thats a different story...

ps: the injen drops power output...factory minus the baffles produces more power...

do the dyno w/ the racepipe and the injen and then again with the factory...

i have the second fastest NA for a reason dear...

eviltwinkie 10-22-2008 01:04 AM

the only PROVEN intakes are the RacingBeat w/ ram...and the AEM (marginal).

the key w/ the factory intake is to use a nice high flow filter...i use green just due to historical experience with them in other applications.

you dont get much from just replacing the intake in this car unless you do the whole system...midpipe and catback...in order to take advantage of the higher flow.

the next step would be to use the CobbAP to retune the fuel maps again to take advantage of the increased flow. if your using the stock maps, your gain will again be marginal even after doing all those mods. you have to lean out the mix to get the power.

one last thing...if you have not performed the throttle body bypass, your again losing power due to heat soak. you want to bypass sending hot coolant to your throttle body so the air is cool. the injen suffers from sucking in hot air which doesnt help the situation.

katiewagg 10-22-2008 01:04 AM

i dont give a shit if you dont clean up after yourself but this thread is called INJEN INTAKE so try to keep it on the subject then horassing somebody. THANKS.

have you dynod a car or seen a dyno with the injen intake?

so please, any else smart ass remarks save them. they are not appreciated.

Wow dang.. that's interesting considering Injen claims 21hp and 13ftlb. I'll wait for a dyno though.. if what twinks says is true then their numbers are WAYY off. They can probably get sued for it.

Are you an idiot? Twink is trying to help you out by providing information on better intakes than Injen and you turn around and bite him?

You, katiwagg, are a fool.

Indeed, Injen BS'ed on the dyno. Then again, many companies BS their dynos.

im sorry, but this has nothing to do with an injen intake. Fool? gasp. ok.so find another place to defend eviltwinkie, i am just asking for a dyno sheet.

ok...katie...ill try really really hard to be nice...just because i know you kinda...

but, if you do a search on the forum, you'll find several threads where this specific intake was compared and tested...if you scour the dyno sheets and look at the mods, you can also make the same conclusions...

dude...dont make me clump you into the retard pile...

katiewagg 10-22-2008 01:11 AM

no, they did not BS their dyno, if your car is TUNED right, you can have UP to 22 hp. the only thing is, not many people pay 250 to tune two mods. but hey, if you want the power than ya get it tuned.

similar to how K&N claimed the same increases due to a drop in filter...

TONS of companies make claims, and produce fake dynos to get people to buy product...

fortunately, lots of us "old timers" on teh forum were around to harrass and test and post the results...

its all there...

intakes, intakes, intakes...is a nice place to start...

Ok, on Injen's website, they said that it's a bolt on intake. What does bolt on mean? NO TUNING!
If they advertised it as 22hp with a "bolt on" system, then there's no tuning involved; this intake does not make 22hp, therefore, fraud.

dude...the dyno is BS...

highest NA dyno was produced by TeamRX8, which methodically tested and posted his results.

best you will EVER see in NA trim...is 230whp.

btw, the only way to get the car tuned is to use the CobbAP which was NOT available until recently...OR get a standalone...

either way, its clear the results are impossible for a normal person to achieve...due to real-world testing conducted by race firms...

the racing beat intake looks similar to the stock intake for a reason...Mazda did a fantastic job...

rollerbldes 10-22-2008 01:16 AM

Wow performance companies really goes too far to earn a buck. That's like me saying my miracle hands will add 50 horsepower. Oh.. btw I dyno'd my hands with NOS.

the other problem is that the rennys all dyno differently depending on wear and maint...

the intake system is carefully tuned for lowend power...when you replace it, you get more sound, and feel "top-end"...

what you are feeling is the car struggling at the lower end of the power band, and it "coming to life" after it gets to the higher end where bolt-on intakes are able to provide enough flow. this makes you think you are gaining power due to the difference in feel.

in reality your only feeling the car lacking low end and doing its normal job when you get to the high end...

Spinning Sushi 10-22-2008 01:19 AM

katiewagg, since you believe what companies tell you, then I think you should buy this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...mZ250311648692

I swear to you, and only you, that this will give you +50whp, +20mpg, and +100wtq.

06_RX8 10-22-2008 01:19 AM

Damn now whos the one picking on a girl
All she wanted to know is if anyone had dyno'd it
I hope she proves you wrong. Oh and what makes you the second fastest NA do you have dyno sheets i can see?

Yeah? I have proof that my car was the fastest NA car (without the AP and was still the highest powered) at the SoCal RX-8 Dyno Day with MM and CRH.

BTW, this was with an INTAKE that "I" made.

you have it wrong retard...unlike YOU picking on and calling out chicks because they love cars...we are on here trying to INFORM using FACTS, and not insulting or demeaning...

again its not surprising you cant tell the difference...STFU and GTFO...unless you have something useful to contribute...

i would LOVE to be proven wrong, however i know better...i can do math, and tune my own car because i understand it...outside of the fact others have tested the injen for everyone and posted the results...

if you want to find out how fast i am...come to the track and i'll show you...road race or 1/4mi...that simple...

unlike you. you bad woman hater you :p:

katie - you've probably already figured it out, but it helps to just put in the key words in the search tab and it'll pick up anything on here with that. you can do the advanced search to whittle down the number, and relevance, of items that pop up :)

tiltmode43 10-22-2008 02:18 AM

WTF socal bash thread, not injen review thread. This should be closed and all useful posts (pertaining to topic) moved to the other injen discussion.

Only real/substantial gains from intake are cooler intake draw or a light light positive pressure (~.2lbs) from a ram air effect (via RB duct/odula duct/re-a duct).

eviltwinkie - 2nd fastest or 2nd highest dynoing. Other factors inclue model, temperatures, unsprung/sprung weight, tire compound/friction, etc

Really takes balls to out and out claim to be the "2nd fastest na rx8"

photo chick 10-22-2008 02:21 AM

i counted..7/31 are bashing posts..i don't think a new thread is needed. we haven't even seen any dyno sheets yet!

heh...fastest is different than dynoing...

factors such as...model...GT (w/ lightest spec options)...temps texas heat...tires at the time first batch of Toyo R888 (semi-slicks) in the US on RPF1's...

not to mention all the mods, tuning, lightening up, and lots of driver education time...heh

balls is one thing...skillz i haz...in any vehicle as soon as i figure them out...see seven stock kart results...as a lame example...

https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...3&d=1222572232

so when you couple skill, to a properly balanced tool...yeah...ballz has nothing to do with it...heh

There's already an injen thread. One discussion on the performance of the intake with varying views seems better.

Also, out of 31 posts, how many different people were there? ;)

This thread is discussing performance parts. It read as though you were stating your rx8 was the nd fastest na 8, not that you were the second fastest driver.

Noone said a word about who was the best driver, we were discussing cars. Of course an experienced driver will be faster; in comparison to experience nearly any na mod on the rx8 is negligible.

So, claiming your "rx8" to be the second fastest does indeed take balls :P

see...thats where we COULD have been pricks and said...SEARCH N00B...or REPOST!!

but instead its nicer to provide information, hints, and helpful advice...which was interspersed in there somewhere...

yes...i was stating that in order to achieve performance...its not as simple as slapping a part on...you MUST understand what the parts DO, and how they interact with the SYSTEM. and in order to build up the RX8 to be fast, you must know what parts need to be combined to make it work.

a MAJOR reason i can claim my RX is probably the second fastest (non-race trim) NA, is because i have YET to see a 1/4mi slip or a 0-60 time which exceeded my results...

i do not post that information publicly just as i do not post my mods publicly just because im a firm believer in the put up or shut up philosophy. i welcome challenges, and always oblige...in friendly and legal ways only...

so far...again, until im proven wrong...i have NEVER lost to another RX...both on road courses or the 1/4mi...

recently i decided to move to FI in order to stop getting punked by C5 vettes on straights...and then i'll no longer be able to make my claim...

but hands down, the BEST mod...driver education...BEST

=)

Well, start date means nothing, the last post was 10/21/08 4:38PM...

Lol, well I guess its differing forum etiquette? I mean, that post was on the same front page, only a few posts down. "Anyone dyno this thing yet? Feels like there are upper rpm gains!" as a post in that thread would have been more suiting. Seeming multiple posts about the same stuff on the front pages just seems like a waste - I'm a believer of condensing info so in the future when individuals search it all lands in one convenient place. Not putting literally everything in one place but I mean asking about a dyno, when it was discussed in the other thread as well, seems like that thread would have been better.

Gah, this has become thread trash central lol, dammit. Stupid hipocracy me->:spank:<-me

And yes, I'm sure you are quite the driver and may have quite the na rx8
