Impression on my new Racing Beat REV8 Exhaust System

I received and installed my new exhaust system this week (Mr Muffler, 43$ Can for the installation!).

1) The exhaust is extremely well made. The guy at Mr Mufller told me "you must have paid a lot for it. It's well made, we don't see this often in aftermarket exhaust"

2) The installation took 20-30 minutes and for the price...:)

3) When I started the car, I did not notice any difference between this RB exhaust and the stock exhaust.

4) When you rev the car, the sound is deep but not too loud, you can also hear the POP when you release the pedal.

5) The overall sound is excellent but for those that are looking for a very loud sound, forgets it. This exhaust is perfect for those looking for a better sound but without waking up the neighbors.

6) The only downside is that the exhaust turned goldish within 2-3 days :(

Also, I noticed that after 3 days, the sound has changed. It is a little more deep and sound even better. Is it just me or is it normal?

Overall, it :ylsuper:

exhaust settle in after time, they loose that slightly tinny sound they have when brand new.

Sounds like a nice exhaust!

Congrats on the RB exhaust. I've had mine on for about 5 months now and I LOVE it. It's exactly what I was looking for: subtle yet agressive under WOT.

As for the gold tips, try this stuff out. It ROCKS!

I would love to get this exhaust if not for two things:

- the yellowing tips that require constant attention and polishing. This could have been easily avoided using double-walled tips :(

- the extra weight. What were the folks at Racing Beat thinking making the system heavier than stock? :dunno:

1) Yes, the tips turning yellowish is a bit of a drag but easily remedied every few months with that polish. (literally only takes about 10 minutes to do both tips)

2) This is my all time favorite argument with the RB. The exhaust is the whopping 10 lbs heavier.
-Ways to trim 10 lbs off your car:
a) Car Jack with Case - 6lbs (don't need this since we all have free roadside assistance)
b) Emergency Tire Kit - 4.8lbs (truly a waste of trunk space)

BINGO! We dropped 10 lbs off our car and it's now back to the exact same weight as when we bought it and we've got a better sounding exhaust. (and much cooler looking)

:)

NgoRX8 06-03-2006 12:32 PM

my rb tips are black right now...

Two more suggestions to add to that

a) hit the treadmill and take a spin class daily lose 10lbs in a matter of weeks

b) Instead of filling up your gas tank to full, fill her up half way. Save weight and money there :)

supergoat 06-03-2006 06:30 PM

Yea my exhaust turned gold as well. Not the tips, but the muffler and piping did.

Congrats on the new mod though. :)

Rootski 06-04-2006 12:28 PM

Yeah, gas weighs about 10lbs. per gallon. A half-tank is nearly 70 lbs lighter than a full one!

SayNoToPistons 06-04-2006 04:01 PM

<3 Racing Beat... my fav exhuasts for the Rotaries...

3) Exhaust sounds stock when cold. Exhaust will take 2-4K miles to "break in" as well, it gets deeper w/ more miles. After you drive for 10 mins, you will notice the exhaust warmed up and much deeper/nicer sounding.

6) Like the other fellas mentioned, use English Custom Hot Environment & Chrome Polish. It also protects, so my tips turned gold pretty quick, but then I polished them and they are very very slowly starting to gold after 3 months now.

You are right, when it's warmed up, the sound is much deeper/nicer sound. For the guys that have this exhaust, did you notice a real difference after 2-4 K miles meaning that the sound just got better w/more miles? If it is the case, than it  even more! Let me know.

I will also order the bottle English Custom Hot Environment & Chrome Polish as you guys suggested.

Thanks!

Jedi54 06-05-2006 06:52 PM

Humagin: I did notice a difference after a few thousand miles. English Custom polish is the best stuff out there, you'll love it.

OK, that's possible - but seriously, why not just eliminate the whole issue simply by using double-walled tips? Is it THAT much money they spare in manufacturing cost? Is it worth to gain a few bucks (can't be more than that) and hear people complaining about the tips turning yellow and requiring repeated polishing? I think not.

I already got rid of both without getting a heavier exhaust :)

dipatrx8 08-06-2008 04:45 PM

there is any guy with the rev8 and an rp supercat?
If there is i would like to know please the sound of the parts together and the more power that takes the 8!!!

Razz1 08-06-2008 10:37 PM

Yes, Jedi has that.

Check your local forum and go to a meet.

Jeromie 08-07-2008 12:48 AM

yea rb catback and any high flow cat should sound great! just dont get rid of the cat or it will always have just enough rasp to just not be perfect. i have the race flash so i have to deal with it.....

obx8 08-07-2008 12:37 PM

The light went out after a couple of days. It must have been a gas cap thing. I think i need a new gas cap. This is the second time that has happened.

I had the same problem with mine, I just thought I needed a new gas cap. I took it to mazda and they replaced the whole fuel filler pipe. Its covered under warranty.

Fanman 08-09-2008 03:23 AM

I loved mine. If I had it to do all over again, I would have kept my RB exhaust. With the RP Supercat it was awesome. Just about perfect. 1 level lower/louder with the supercat.

I like the sound of it more than my JIC Titanium.

philsbluerx8 08-11-2008 10:57 AM

Fanman, ur definately a RB fan cuz u have pretty much all the RB products on ur list. i like Racing beat too; i have had my exhaust for 1 year already and still love it; i am looking at RB midpipe tho cuz we dont have emission test here but it would be too loud i guess; i hope RB will add a resonator on the midpipe; but anyways, RB is a good company which makes great products.

http://www.santacruzpl.org/readyref/...gasoline.shtml gas weighs 6 pounds a gallon so a half tank is 48 pounds lighter.

GTAW 08-11-2008 01:34 PM

I'll add to the + on Racing Beat's exhaust. This cat back is worth every penny and the weight isn't a concern, that's what FI is for.

NgoRX8 08-11-2008 02:08 PM

Yup, I plan to keep my RB exhaust with FI and just replace the flange on the connecting pipe to 3 inch.

Deathcraft 08-11-2008 02:08 PM

My car didn't come with spare tire kit or emergency kit.

I don't really keep the car jack in my trunk. (stupid but whatever) lol

I can't lose 10 lbs cuz I'm skinny and that would make me look very unhealthy and wouldn't be good for my health.

So whatelse I can do to lose 10lbs off my car?

Ofcourse ...I'm joking.. :P
