Ignition Coils/Spark Plugs/Wires
After doing research for a day or two on the forums i have realized my car has 70k miles and the coils, plugs, or wires pry have NEVER been changed i want to go after market no questions asked. but my question is what are some good brands for ignition coils, plugs, and wires i was thinking MSD but I don't know if they make those for rx8s. i also have a few other questions so RX8s have FOUR ignition coils???!!! i am still in a learning proccess of this car. and where is it located?
Thanks. any tips would be very helpful thanks again. |
yes the 8 has 4 ignition coils, 4 wires and 4 spark plugs...if you really wanna go aftermarket, go with the BHR kit (Pm one of the guys over at BHR and theyll give you the treatment) im pretty sure their kit comes with aftermarket wires too, as far as spark plugs, nothing beats OEM and im pretty sure that you can order new plugs with your BHR kit

do what dozer said..and change your air filter with a k&n one
|
BHR ignition hands down. Accept no substitute.

If you don't want to do an ignition coversion (BHR) then stock is sufficient if your car is N/A.
Stock Coils, Plugs, and wires are a little less then $300. |
I have an aem cold air and who would I pm?
|
Yeah, PM that guy^

/\ Him.

Just to clarify; the only direct bolt-in performance coils for the RX-8 are the Okada Products coils and they are $700 (or so) per set. Any other coil swap kit will either require a conversion wiring harness or a molestation of your factory wiring.
Now prove me wrong as you always do :( |
Agreed on the times getting shorter lately. You guys really improved at that!
Well, 485$ (BHR) vs 700$ for the okada (with unknown specs) i'd pick your kit up anytime, especially since you provide a real warranty and did some extensive tests on the coils. I actually found easier to swap the whole coil pack than the coils one by one anyway. Maybe because i am goofy when working on the car :) |
I did some italian tune-up with other parts. I did polish my throttle body with a dremel tool ;)
That's also how i do the simple "smoothening" ports to the engines! Martina thinks that i'm in love with that tool  |
