Why? Is a good product that thousands of people paid full price for and have no complaints not a good enough deal for you? Why don't you ask him how to build his coils and just the harness so you can save some cash and build them yourself.

He doesn't need to there is a DIY already.

my point was how many people come asking for handouts and discounts. Why? why should CRH just cut one dude some slack? cause he asked nicely? He is making a living. People bug vendors everyday on how to DIY on their stuff instead of buying it

Well, you can't really ask and expect to always get it free-of-charge, even with all the hoopla during the Black Friday it seems far-fetched that your request will probably happen. But thanks for asking on behalf of most members in this forum.

AEM smart coils are superior to both those coils. Only downside is you need to change your plug wires. But you can get a DIY kit for like $80 from MSD for a V8 so you end up with 2 pairs of wires.

You can get coils AND 2 pairs of DIY ignition wires for $370 retail. Wiring is fairly easy and so is mounting using local hardware pieces. The LS2 truck coil is definitely inferior. Will it matter on an N/A? obviously not. Will it matter if you want to push a lot of boost? definitely yet.

Not trying to hit on your product. Its definitely a good easy bolt-on solution. However, like anything there are always better options.

Your D-585 coil is referred to as LS2 truck coils by most of the aftermarket community. The D-585 auto-discharges and starts to misfire before IGN-1A coils. Therefore inferior coil, quite simple.

Again, not downplaying your product which you seem quite defensive about. It works fine for most applications here. But the AEM coil is superior.

they fit fine and use regular plug wire connections, a big minus on the GM coil and it's special connector IMO

I believe there area few threads over on RotaryCarClub.com regarding the ign-1a coils and their benefits compared to the d585's. I actually met with and had a pretty interesting discussion with TitaniumTT who has done a few tests on these coils and the D585's.

Now again, the basis of the entire discussion was the fact that the S2 owners cannot toy with dwell settings, and the ign-1a coils have a better oem dwell.

I do plan on ordering a set of these coils and actually giving them a shot for myself and seeing how a few months compare to running D585's. Unfortunately there is too much mud slinging on these forums and not nearly as much qualitative data as one would like.

That's the data that I was hoping there was more of.

That is basically where I am. Of course, there is nothing really that is saying to me that the d585 coils aren't good enough for an S2. Start ups are great, idles are great, entire rpm band is great. But after these coils were mentioned, I have always been curious as to what differences/benefits (if any) they present.

Op, if you wanna save money, some auto stores have OE coils on lifetime warranty.
Cost about 100 per set.

I have a 2003 rx8 and whenever i out a new set of ignition coils into it after a few starts i get a CEL.after i clear the light using using my scanner it just comes back after a few starts again.ive used both after market coils and genuine coils but have the same problem still.once i place the coils that came with the car back i the CEL then turns off and the problem stops.except with the old coils the miss fire comes back.....anyone got any ideas?

Yeah.its in new zealand now.i saw someone else post something about this problem once but cant find the thread etc anymore.finding info on this is proving to be pretty hard
