Hydrogen MAF & MAP Sensors

Ok I put togethor a hydrogen kit for my 8 and wanted to test it out. Can someone tell me if the the 2004 RX8 has a MAF or MAP sensor, I believe it has both but I would like to clarify it. Also does the MAF sensor send out a voltage or a frequency output.

MAF only.....voltage

Oh really only a MAF Sensor cause alot of places also sell a MAP sensor for the RX8. Ok well thanks

So did you install it yet?

x8tuner44 11-17-2008 10:05 AM

not yet im still waiting for my efie to come in, once I get that ill put up pics and probably a video.

nmarz77 11-17-2008 07:14 PM

Cool. I don't think anyone else on the board has tried it yet on thier car.

you are getting your hydrogen from where? and you are where??

what is a efie?

sorry i am a simple man. just wondering..

beers

Swoope, I think the kit he is buying includes a hydrogen generator which will basically produce enough hydrogen to help out during idle and cruise at best.

RWagz 11-18-2008 01:04 AM

brown gas?

nmarz77 11-18-2008 01:07 AM

Yep! But it's called "Brown's Gas" after a guys name....it's not really brown. lol

ok,

i will buy into that, but what is an efie? sorry i dont mean to rain on anyones parade here, but we cant master fi.. i am thinking hydrogen is a bit farther down the road..

the work to the ecu to do a new fuel? god i cant even guess..

hey, but what do i know..

beers

Just wonder how many l. per Hr. of Hydrogen is needed to see the improve in gas mileage.

StealthTL 11-18-2008 04:19 AM

"If you make hydrogen with power from the alternator/battery, the drag caused by the extra load will ALWAYS outweigh the fuel power of the gas produced."

lol...this is why it's interesting to actually see this done instead of in theory. Sometimes theory and reality don't match up. From what I have read, creating hydrogen this way goes beyond basic physics because there are several other variables to take into account. But, like swoope said, we have a hard enough time perfecting FI and creating and properly tuning a vehicle to run on Hydrogen is going to be even harder.

x8tuner44 11-19-2008 10:05 AM

An efie is an electronic fuel injection enhancer. When the hydrogen goes into the engine it senses more air and therefor it would inject more gas, but the efie reverses that and doesnt inject more since the hydrogen gas will do the work for the rest of the gas. I've been reading up on this stuff for a few months and I am finally getting to try it. The rest of the parts are taking forever to come, so ill keep you updated when I install it.

nmarz77 11-19-2008 02:55 PM

Sounds good. I'm really interested in seeing how it turns out.

yeah, beyond basic physics and straight into defying some basic laws of physics. and other variables like having a system that is greater than 100% energy efficient(by the way if that was possible there would never be an energy/oil/etc crisis ever again, ever)

the energy required to split water exceeds the energy recouped by burning it

Start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_energy

oh and if you look around on the web you can find lab studies that prove(via testing and via math/chemistry) that there is not enough "left over energy" in your cars electrical system to produce enough burnable hydrogen to be able to measure any amount of mileage/power increases.

btw, this should be your first clue. just because its sold doesnt mean it works, or even fits anywhere... ppl will sell you ANYTHING that you will buy..... if you dont believe me just take a look around:

Ok well I have to see it to believe it. I know people say it works or doesnt work, but if everyone just talks and never tries it then you get nowhere. So ill see if it works and if not then no biggie. Its worth a try.
