HEY!! RB Flywheel Vibration Probs Due to Misaligned PPF

I have not read the threads to see if this has been posted. Forgive and forget if it has.

I also put in a RB flywheel, PP and Clutch disk. I had vibration issues afterwards (harmonic between 3250 and 3750 rpm; sounds like grinding rocks!) and have been trying to figure it out for 600 miles. I talked to Brian at RB and he suggested to recheck my PPF clearance (PPF has oval holes at transmission end to allow up/down adjustment. See service manual-transmission page 33 or so.)

The dimension was off by only 1/4 inch, but I adjusted anyway (went high to 2.25 inches to allow for settling: final-approx 2 inches). I noticed that the score marks from the bolts on the front of the PPF from the last time I put it on were forward almost 0.25 inches from where I torqued them down this time. I dropped the car off the jacks and took off. I immediatly noticed overall less NVH, easy clutch engagement and NO VIBRATION AT 3500 RPM!!!!!!

Hope that this noise thing is not related to the hot spots noted on other flywheels, i.e., I hope that I did not permanently damage my flywheel. I should say that this realignment has a HUGE effect on clutch engagement. Smooth as butta now. Thoughts on this?

Please lets stop trashing Racing Beat! Buy the Flywheel (install it correctly) and you will not be disappointed.

I plan to write up a detailed jackstand installation/impression thread later (if you dont mind!) at work when I have more time

Getting the power plant frame perfectly aligned on the 3rd gen RX-7's was very important as well. It isn't another part you can just bolt on wherever it lines up. It's got to be right. This car should be no different. The RX-7's had issues when they were misaligned too.
