The stock exhaust does not bolt together in the same fashion in that location.

There should be a gasket in there yes, mine came with one, you can also add something like this product as well which you can get at your local hardware store.

PERMATEX ULTRA COPPER Hi-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

ps do you know what bolt sizes to use?

and dont they make gaskets in metal too? if so when i go to the store what do i ask them for? everytime they computer searched rx8 and of course since its new they dont have any...

My recollection is they are 10mm bolts, don't recall the length but someone else might. I tend to just use whatever works/fits in that situation.

Since you don't have the original gasket, I would just get the high temp gasket maker instead and use it. It will do the job as well or better, just make sure you get a complete seal including the areas around the bolt holes. I actually used the high temp gasket maker and the gaskets both. I believe the gaskets that come with the GReddy are not metal but something else. I doubt you will be able to find them unless you got them from a dealer who sells that exhaust. As long as you get a good, complete seal from the high temp gasket maker, you should be find and leak free.

uhh...its not 10mm...usually exhausts uses bigger bolts. the midpipe uses 14mm bolts so use that...oh and the o2 sensor requires an open wrench 21mm and be careful when you take it out or you'll pay 200 for another o2sensor.

Mine oozed out of the cat->muffler joint and now is a blob hanging off of the pipes. It was fine for about four or five days though right after I applied it but then the heat made it disintigrate. Its done that to me 2 times before I actually had to get the real gasket.
