Help...do these power mods actually work???

Saw these two power mod options on ebay (although the second one is linked to a company in Orlando), just wondered if the +25bhp gain is nothing more than hot air, or a possible gain.

As a recent buyer into the wonderful world of RX8 ownership, I'm a bit nervous of toying too much with the set up other than proven modifications.

Thanks guys

Greetings from a dull and cold Scotland!!

doesnt even have an 8 listed

surfbluesurf 09-26-2008 09:02 AM

Yeh, I did drop them a line to query that, yet it mentions the 8 in the title!! Strange one!!

I understand from talking to a local Rotary Specialist here that the biggest power improvement comes from a turbo or supercharger, are there any smaller gains to be had that are less expensive? ie. chip etc??

Thanks

To be named later 09-26-2008 09:36 AM

You guys are such skeptics!!

surfbluesurf will see a performance increase and possibly a couple of HP increase from the first one listed.........

WE RECOMMEND FOR USE WITH THE SPRINT BOOSTER, K+N AIR FILTERS WHICH OFFERS A SMOOTHER UNRESTRICTED AIR FLOW GIVING YOUR VEHICLE THE PERFECT BALANCE
.............simply because of the K&N filter.

The SprintBooster actually magnifies the signal from the pedal to the computer, and makes the car accelerate faster at lower pedal pressure - kind of like stamping the pedal instead of gently pressing it.
Weird concept, but quite popular in Japan......

you can get a mid pipe or some pulleys i have the mazsport ignition solution and see a nice difference with that or the cobb access port is nice as well. i also have the aem cold air intake but that is more for sound then power(you only get 1-3 hp form an intake)

Yeah just get an electric turbo im making 300+ whp with it , get the performance chip cause it saves gas. Why spend 6k+ on a turbo when u can get my set up?

If you took my post seriously then go sell your 8 right now and buy a civic thanks.

Thanks StealthTL, may give it a go, although I'm still hankering after the turbo option - I NEED MORE POWER!!!
