Don't you already have the HKS? The performance gains will be minimal for each and sound is subjective...

Hey Guys... new to the forum. Just purchased an 04 RX8 and so far I love the car. I know this is not an answer to your question but the first thing I did was purchased and installed a B&B performance exhaust... the sound difference was amazing and it definitely has more get-up and go. Next is an AEM intake that's sitting in my garage (installation looks difficult!)

thanks... thats +1 on the HKS.. the hi power is pretty loud... compared to the legamax.. the legamax. almost sounds stock.. at low rpms.. it does sound clean and deep after 4.. thats why i need some advice to make it a little more rumble.... without making it sound to much like a rice.. trying to make it sound more like a euro exotic.. i think the midpipe and headers should do the trick.

I know nyc drift king has the legamax and i heard the video i think it sounds damn good...is it really close to stock? cuz his doesnt sound stock at all and has no midpipe or header..ppl always say the hi power is loud...its loud but its nothing nobody can't handle and i got compliments left and right out of it saying its got a real nice deep tone (with no midpipe and/or header)

thanks.... it does sound stock .. i think..at low rpms.. its quiet when it's idle ... i heard the hi power before on the 8..it sounds intense, thats why i went hks instead of borla or racing beat. i wasnt feeling the single tip though.. the legamax. i have a two brothers exhaust on my Suzuki GSXR, so i miss that loud sound.. but i obviously dont want a reason to get pulled over.. i'm trying to make my car sound loud but clean.. like a euro car.. the legamax sounds clean.. thats why i like it.. i just want to make a little louder.. for my tastes at least.. so i thought of adding a midpipe and headers.. adding some power and sound.
is the NYC drift king on youtube?

Was thinking of the legamax caus it keeps the dual tips, bit i want a louder but great sounding exhaust...

What does this conversation have to do w S2 rx8s? I don't believe either company makes an S2 compatible exhaust.

Correct there matey

Borla are still trialing and perfecting the exhaust for the series 2/R3 at present and if the S1 is anything to go by they will not be ready for quite some time worst luck as i am holding out for a Borla .

if any one knows different then please tell

cheers

Borla all the way!!!! Sounds great who cares about power RX8s are insensitive to exhaust tunning meaning gains will be minimal, its because of the side exhaust ports. The exhaust has to make a 90 degree turn out of the motor and doesn't come straight out like that of the rx7. This does two things quiets exhaust pulse and helps cool it a little so the cat can be made out of cheaper material. You might c a couple horses difference between exhausts and maybe a little more if you do a full exhaust system, but borla sounds reeeeeelll nice!

Who keeps telling you to go with the Borla?

Having the legamax your one of a few, thats always a good thing =]

The power is pretty much the same. The sound quality Legamax wins hands down. A lot of my friends have the Borla so I've heard both many times. The Borla has nicer tips to me.

But if you want a better overall sound add a CAI or mid-pipe. I run a AEM CAI with the Legamax and it sounds like no other Rx8 I've ever heard. So I say stay with what you got...

I prefer the sound of the HKS. Plus, HKS quality is top-notch.

i've owned both and driven with both for an extended period of time.

both have pros and cons.

Borla Pros:

- Larger piping.
- Deeper rumble exhaust sound
- Cheaper

Legamax Pros:

- Sounds great even with a catless mipe.
- Straight forward piping that doesn't curve around itself.

Borla will drone if you have a catless midpipe and no turbo. Legamax will sound good regardless. Borla has a nicer sound if you keep the stock cat installed.

Overall I'd opt for borla just because it's cheaper. Hard to justify HKS $$ on an aftermarket exhaust that has the same piping size as OEM.
