Headers wast of money?
 

I was looking online all types of headers the brand name ones for 500-700$ says 10-15hp I know its bs but would get copy cats do the same or are headers a was of money as well?

you get what you pay for with the headers out there.
They are all relatively they same design but quality can vary quite a bit from company to company.

I have the Racing Beat header on my car; amazing craftsmanship, fit, and does exactly what they claim.
up to you to decide whether that claim is a waste of money for you.

If you have money burning a hole in your pocket and have all the other upgrades-go for it. However, if this will be your first upgrade, get something else, like Exoticspeed R1-t cat-back exhaust, Catless midpipe, BHR ignition upgrade, COBB tuner, drop in K&N filter.

Headers are not the best bang for the buck, but everything else isnt either. Mazda did a really good job developing our cars.

Modifications are all about the sum of parts.

It wouldn't be on the top of my list.

Ya I got full exhaust and cold air intake really happy with the gains just wanted some feed back for headers cuz I'm hearing alot of mixed info from what I'm hearing its not a was if u have the other parts 2 go with it

Please use the search function and stop opening this kind of threads. They are useless as the answer is already out there. What's coming next? BHR ignition WAST of money? Lightweight flywheel?

Gains are decieving.... When I put my full exhaust on (cattless), I know it only gave me a few HP but the powerband was longer and there were other benefits like +4 mpg. So if you get he right mods together you might see a lot of "bang for your buck". Just my .02

I have personally designed 11 different header and exhaust systems ranging from 2.5" exhaust to 4", 1 and 2 mufflers, several merge collectors lengths and various primary runner diameters and lengths.

I have tried dozens of intake lengths, designs, air filters and a few different front noses.

Headers work but if your use to the gains that a piston motor can bring you are waaaay off. One of the challenges of this product is the very small market and the cost of fabrication of a product with a nil size market. Just our collectors are $700 and to get the best gains there is a lot of fabrication labor. You can make "a header" for these cars with less expensive materials and a simple design and it will give you a few ponies. The bottom line is there are not big gains by slapping on an exhaust.

In my professional opinion, there is typically more power in a fresh motor properly tuned using good spark and fuel. To the contrary, a used motor half-way tuned with carbon deposits, low grade fuel, dirty plugs, a micro exhaust leak upstream of the O2 sensor will make less power when coupled with a good intake and a decent exhaust.

The Renesis motor has a sweet spot and is pretty sensitive to all the variables that contribute to its health. Start with a fresh motor which gives you the POTENTIAL to make solid power and work from there.

As mentioned earlier, you'll want to spend a ton of time surfing the various threads on this forum. I'd stay away from "header" words and read several thread names that discuss how this particular engine operates.
