Has anyone had there cat remove, as I am experiencing problems.!!!!!!!! help!!!!!!
I have removed the cat from my rx8, After 20 miles the ECU engine warning light has come on. which has restricted the power of my rx8. I was informed it may come back on, due to having the cat removed. Is there anyway i can permantly fix this problem, without reseting the ECU every time. would a super chip fix my problem!!! please help
Many thanks Jimmy. |
The stock ECU checks for the cat performance. You have none so the car thinks the cat is performing poorly. Maybe it is estricting performance to try and improve emmissions.........but I don't know that. You need a proper 02 sensor voltage signature to the ecu to tell your car that the cat is performing fine. You'll need a dummy O2 sensor unit or aftermarket engine management.
There are a lot of people on here with midpipes and I'm not sure if they all have issues with the ECU holding back performance. |
suggest do a search here . This has been discussed many times
BTW - did they put the stock 02 sensor back in ? |
This thread is too intense for just one exclamation point.

Why do we continue to allow newbie unrestricted posting with zero post count?
At Thanksgiving, don't then normally seat the children at a separate table? |
haha......sorry lol :icon_no2:

*sigh*
in short no. you removed a piece of emission control device. you expect the ECU to *let you go* ? Put your CAT back on, stop destroying our planet. This earth is where I store all my stuff ! And next time, do a search you FREAKING MORON ! |
CatManDooDoo....
Removing the cat would not, by itself , restrict the performance of a US car (Your mileage may vary - you are in Lancs, the UK spec car MAY be programmed to go to 'limp-mode' when the cat is off.)
No chip or 'fooler' will trick the ECU into happiness, you WILL have to replace the cat. S |
I have the B&B midpipe, with the o2 sensor, so my 8 hasn't had any problems.....but hope you get it fixed, whatever you do, don't ask or bring it into the dealer!
