Greddy Turbo Kit Question

hey I'm thinkin about getting the greddy turbo kit for my car, and I was just wonderin about a few things: will I have to take off my fog lights for the intercooler, what kinda gas mileage will i get after the install, can i redline with the kit (not that i want to) or will it hurt the engine more, which is better to do get it installed professionally or can it be done by myself?

You can leave the foglights on. The connectors are hard to get back in due to the intercooler pipes, but it can be done.

Gas mileage depends on how many times you "get on it". Boosting once in awhile, I'm getting the same as I was pre-turbo (18mpg).

You can redline it everyday if you want. Not sure how long it'll last if you do that. The engine does seem to withstand pinging/ detonation pretty well. I've done it several times (dealer installed plug wires in wrong; emanage map corrupted).

I installed the kit myself. I'd recommend it if you are mechanically inclined and feel comfortable. Read over the install directions and make sure you understand everything. Theres a install thread to help you out.
Sometimes your better off doing it yourself than having it "professionally installed". Theres alot of professional installers/ mechanics out there that are freakin' idiots.

Ditto what Adrian-1 said.

I had a so-called 'professional' install mine, and it was a total disaster. Not only am I out the money, but the AmateurStreet (ProStreet) idiots had my car for THREE months.

It took me about six hours to diagnose and fix all their screw-ups. I am not a pro mechanic, so why were those clowns not able to figure out simple stuff?

A lot of sloppy work...like losing bolts, breaking the tabs on my battery box & ECU cover, & worse things like cutting my front O2 sensor wire, trying to splice it back together, and crossing the wires.

That bit of their stupidity cost me over $300 for a new O2 sensor.

If you *do* get someone else to do it, do your homework. Make extra certain the person who is getting ahold of your 8 doesn't bugger it up.

On the plus side, getting to really know your car is a good thing, and laying hands on it to install a turbo will really give you a lot of gratification in that regard.

Putting the RP cat on means the turbo can flow more boost than the eManage is designed for. This will result in lean/ping conditions above 5k at WOT.

I have the supercat on my car right now. With the EManage it could not really tune out the backfiring with the hi-flow cat. Now, with something different I have tuned out the problem completely. Having an exhaust & hi-flow cat won;t damage the engine or the turbo kit at all. Just gives you the annoying backfire problem.

I heard GReddy came out with updated maps for their turbo setup... I'm curious as to how the car performance after that's updated.

Only difference is it won't run pig rich from the R flash.
