Is this (good) shit??

thats quite expensive for a $.03 resistor.

Someone Shoot Me

It really works.

That "thing" is just a ~$0.03 resistor that is put in series with your air-temperature sensor. The effect is that the computer reads a lower voltage value and therefore interprets that as if the incoming intake air is colder, and compensates for that by advancing the timing. Advancing timing produces more power.
Right after installing it, the computer will advance the timing and therefore produce more power, but if timing is already at the limit, or if the incoming air is actually hot, you might get some knocking or detonation. Few miles later, the computer will have to decrease the timing due to knocking detected from the knocking sensor, losing with that the “gain” that you previously felt. |
bump for another hilarious rx8club thread title.

Ditto on the funny thread title.
So let me get this straight, it does something which results in your engine detonating but that is okay since you get more horsepower until it happens. Then the ECU compensates for it and you need to add anther resistor... Then your car has higher horsepower until it detonates and your ECU compensates, then you... Ground hog day until your motor goes poof! Do I have this right? |
RRRRRRRRRiiiiiiiiigggggggggghhhhhhhhhhtttttttttttt  It will work, sure
|
Captain Zoom, I have a bridge to sell...... Just kiddin ....... Run
|
This seems to be a popular item, I've seen it in about a dozen posts so far. 25hp for $19.... you can risk dumping it into your ride if you want to, but it wont be me.
MSRP: $197.98  |
smells like bad chit to me :D
|
I really doubt it's going to do anything performance wise, except screw up your car and lose horsepower.
But who knows.... |
