First mods!?

Good day all,

I have acquired a 2007 Black rx-8 Gs Full Equipped (heated seats and Bose) for the lucky price of 2000$,
and I've already changed a few important things.

Brakes - Hawk HPS
Brake Rotors - Racing Break
Tires - Will be changed next year
Flywheel (was originally broken) - Excedy Light flywheel
Clutch (was originally broken) Stage 1 Excedy
Starter - OEM

So now I'm at the point of what's next, I obviously would like to gain more torque, but safety and handling in more important to me.

Now I was thinking of changing the shocks, but should I lower the car a bit, and also what kind of shocks should i get (if i should even change them)

If not what else should I change before going for power mods.
then what power mods should I go first?

Thanks!

(money is not so much of a problem, But I will not touch 3 rotor stuff -.-)

Too bad about that clutch...

Hopefully you have one that won't self destruct soon.

It also gets me ever time someone "breaks" their "brakes". :suspect:

For moving forward...

- compression test to see if that dirt cheap car you got was dirt cheap for want of an engine
- SOHN adapter and 2-stroke reservoir so you can stop burning 4-stroke
- MazdaEdit to increase OMP rates and reduce coolant fan temps (and later tune if desired)
- delete the cat if you can get away with it, ideally a BHR midpipe is the right choice, but you may want to waste money on other midpipes before making that realization
- sway bar upgrade is cheap and usually a good move
- BHR ignition

My recommendation for sure is the BHR stuff RIWWP mentioned. I have both of them on mine. Strengthening the weak points is more of a piece of mind thing really.

Is the BHR ignition a good purchase? A needed purchase or just a nice-to-have?

Also, first mod should be buying a new motor - there was a reason why it was only $2k.

You might also look into the super sexy axial flow short shifter for the 8.

I would hold off on midpipes (BHR 'should be releasing their header soon'). Which will come with a custom midpipe for it.

LS2 coils with a lifetime warranty or replace your coils once a year or every 30k miles. Your choice. :dunno:

I'd recommend you replace your coils, wires and plugs as well. However, and this is nothing against BHR, I would recommend going OEM and just replacing them when they need it. You can get a set of four coils dirt cheap now.

I recommend that the next $100 you spend is the $100 in my sig.

Welcome, well done, and, um, if your Stage 1 fails, I have one that did not I will let go cheap. I just did not like the heavier pedal.

++ on the flywheel though. That is hands down the best performance mod.

onother upgade ive been looking into is :

the S2 is running 105-115 psi oil pressure, this was supposedly for main bearing life

is there a down side to bumping an S1 to this oil pressure ?

It’s a 6 year old thread, you might want to search first, if you find no answers or have doubts about the answers, start a new thread.
FWIW, my oil cooler hose literally blown the next day I upgraded my OP regulator.

You can in the new members area. Everywhere else after 10 posts and 30 days.

because you noobs are annoying enough without creating new threads on old, well worn out subjects already multiple-posted to death by previous noobs

that isn’t worthy of a new thread, that subject is very old and no, you’re not special
