Final Decision!!! Last Comments Needed
I'm choosing between the K&N 2Gen Typhoon and AEM intake and only the two so please just comment on either two....I'm going to buy it today or tomorow... So far I got some input from some people and all I want is a reliable intake, also a loud one....without voiding my warranty and or throwing a CEL....Basically here are the pros and cons
K&N Typhoon 2Gen: PROS: -Loud around 3000 to 3500 RPM -Easy to Install & Easy to Clean -Good Look to it -Under the hood so won't have Hydrolocking problem CONS: -Might suck in some hot air -Might get dirty easier AEM: PROS: -Loud around 7000 RPM -Gets Colder Air due to being outside -Nice Look CONS: HydroLocking (not sure if it's easy to happen) Bypass Valve could void warranty Hard to Install/Clean due to having to take off the bumper for both Please If anyone can give me last minute info I would really appreciate it from one 8 driver to another...... I need to know which is better and easier to have and will be less likely to casue me any problems with the dealer! thanks |
ive heard the typhoon is very loud actually, i had an injen cai in my mazda 3 and it got water in it all the time, tho i hear hyrodolocking in the 8 is hard to do. but the aem cai is going to be essentially the mazdaspeed cai so either of them is basically a good choice. sorry i couldnt swing you one way or the other. i just received my umnitza intake that im going to install tomorrow.

You should try to find people in your area, and see if they have one of the intakes, and will give you a ride. Best way to narrow it down is to see, hear, and feel it for yourself. Personally I'd go with AEM. I don't think hydrolocking will be a problem unless you decide to drive through a puddle that would go up to the mid point of the front bumper. That would be your own fault though.

AEM. I would prefer a cai over a sar.
