Falken 615 tire wear

I remember there was a pretty big run on these tires on this forum a few months ago, including a bunch of people using these tires as their street tires. I was hoping to get a report on how the tires are wearing under normal driving conditions (relative to the stock tires).

I've had mine for about 4 months now, driven about 3k miles and haven't noticed any thread wear yet. I can still see the Azenis imprint.

how did this end up in this forum... -confused-

now im confused

the math is weird for this. stock vs the 615s is interesting....

treadwear on the re040s is 140
treadwear on the rt 615s is 200

wouldnt that make u assume that they are harder compound tires? then meaning they wouldnt wear as quickly?

tread depth of re040s is 10/32 (new)
tread depth of rt 615s is 8/32 (new)

THAT would mean that even tho they wear "slower" they would be down 20% brand new from the potenzas....so if the treadwear is 40% harder (give or take) it would still outlast the potenzas since they r only 20% less tread.....

so wont the rts last LONGER???????????????

Thats why i was hoping for some real world results. I read they are "super sticky gumballs that should only be driven on the track" but then here stories which are completely opposite of that.

Basically, i need to replace my re040's and its either going to be the rather cheap SPT's or i'd be willing to spend the extra money for the falkens to increase my mountain road driving performance - but only if they are going to last about the same as the re's (about 15-20k miles in my case)

you dont compare treadwear in different brands.

http://www.cars101.com/subaru/tiresandwheels.html

"Treadwear Grade Measures the tread wear life and helps compare tires made by a same company. The higher the number the longer a tire should wear. A tire with a Tread Wear Grade of 200 should last twice as long as one with 100, 400 should last 2x as long as one with 200 etc, but different manufacturers might use different base numbers. "

so, you cant really compare treadwear among different brands, sucks huh? :P

Back to the subject, I have 615s, been to 2 tracks, 1 autox, from the looks of it, Im guessing I can still go to one more track and last as daily till the end of the year. I had them on since nov/dec 05. Put about 10000 miles on them already.

hope this helps

I have had the Falken RT615's on my car since Apr 05 except during winter (4 months). I bought these after a serious hydroplane problem with the RE040's at 12K miles. I spun the car on a gentile bend in the expressway. I would guess I have 10K on the tires and haven't had any problems and I drive hard. ;) I'm happy with them and I will by another set when it comes time to replace them.

My 1st set 235/40s, went ~10K miles/1 yr inc. lots of track days. They're still good, passed inspection even this spring. But they sit in the garage as spares now still on the OEM wheels, while my new 275s on 9.5"ers sit on my car :naughty:

Forget the track stuff and these tires are some of the nicest, quietest, smoothest riding Hi-perf tires I've ever owned for daily driving.
