Exoticspeed R-II Titan 4 month review.
 

I bought the catback in October. My powertrain is completely stock other than a K&N drop in filter and the first screen and baffles removed.

I have the power version 3 inch piping without the extra muffler.

I love this exhaust. It fits perfect. The tips (rotary in my case) are adjustable to get the perfect look. The rotary tips are NOT double walled however and I had some shroud meltage on my driver side tip. After much cussing and bitching I found that after a couple 50 mile (hard) drives to my girlfriend and back, all the molten plastic had burned off. So barely any damage to the shroud and none to the tip... WOOHOO!!

So the sound.... It's nothing short of sex... even with the cat still on. I absolutely love getting in my car. It's low and deep the first 4k revs and slowly turns to a whine till redline. Think angry cat. Low growl to pitchy scream. But it's never obnoxious. No highway drone, just a nice deep tone in the background. You can have a normal conversation and listen to the radio on normal volume settings when cruising. But it gets loud when you step on it. In a tunnel or under a wide enough bridge it sounds like an old F1 car. You get a satisfying pop and gurgle during upshifts and you will never take another onramp slowly again.

The only thing I noticed after 4 months is that there's a slight hint of rasp at 8k rpm that wasn't there before. I don't know if it'll get worse in time but if it does, I'll let you know :)

if you get a midpipe go with something with quality... AP mid made my exhaust and alsmot every other one I've heard raspy

No midpipe for me. I love the sound quality and volume the way it is. My cat is still under warranty so if it decides to take a dump I will get another. If it takes a dump after the warranty expires then I might look for one, if I still even have the car by then. I've been toying with the idea of upgrading to a blue R3 in a couple years.

I was looking to get this one too, but I've also been considering the B&B cat-back. (I know this is a long shot, but...) I did you notice or feel any - even slight - increase in power? I'm pretty sure the answer is no but worth the shot..

So you're OK with it taking a dump and taking your engine with it? :scratchhe

A BHR midpipe should be required for any S1.

With just a catback you won't feel any increase in power. Slightly better throttle response if anything.

If the cat is under warranty, then so is the engine since it's warranty is longer. So IF the engine goes because of a faulty cat then no problem. But I haven't heard or read anyone losing an engine because of it. I like the sound the way it is, volume and lack of rasp. So no midpipe for me.

most compression based failures on otherwise perfectly good motors are caused by a faulty exhaust system, i.e. a blocked cat. Reason being the increase in operating temps caused by blocked exhaust flow destroying the side seals...not saying you should run catless ... more-so that you shouldn't be naive to the fact that a catalyst failure can kill your engine rather quickly.

Funny, that's exactly what they BHR pipe gives you.. not to mention no chance of burning out a cat!

Not new, just not as knowledgeable in these things as most of you are. I wasn't disagreeing with you, just saying I hadn't read or heard about it. The BHR would be my midpipe of choice if I decide to ever buy one.
