Exhaust void warranty?

Just a quick question if installing an aftermarket midpipe and exhaust would void the warranty? I was considering buying the Canzoomer package with the stage 1 and the midpipe and GReddy SP2. ANyone bought this kit or had experiences with these products?

Sorry, I'm the new guy this has probably been asked a bunch.

the warranty can only be voided for those parts of the car directly effected by the upgrade. ie - the stereo system can't be voided, where as certain engine parts can be.

Your question really needs to be answered by your local service manager at the Mazda dealership.

And if they say there is no warranty issues, try to get it in writing.

The 1st Service Manager when I bought my RX-8 said no problem. The new Service Manager says no warranty.

Really, it depends on your dealership whether they'll give you problems or not. Some will claim all sorts of BS that the exhaust can "break" upline, others will tell you that only the muffler warranty is void. It doesn't hurt to ask them before you buy one.

Depending on what state you live in... there are a lot of laws about warranties. If they give you any crap, do a search on the forums for the laws about warranties. Bring them a copy and ask them if it is worth the associated legal fees or if Mazda would just like to repair it. It costs like 2500 to retain a lawyer, and probably a lot less to just repair your car. My 2cents.

That is a 2-way street.

Here you go, read this:

Your rights under federal law

Want the short version? Unless they can produce irrefutable evidence that the aftermarket part caused the failure, you're fine.

FWIW...

The techs at my dealership loved my exhaust.

If the cat gets clogged.... an I have an aftermarket exhaust.. would it void the cat warranty?..... since they are connected?

Jedi54 11-20-2008 05:05 PM

no.

it is called a catback exhaust for that reason

RxDoogone 11-20-2008 05:16 PM

alright cool.. thought i was gonna have to swap it with the stock before i took the car in.... thank you

The midpipe & the stage 1 would void your warranty before the exhaust will. By the way with that combination it will be ear splittingly loud. Enjoy.

You might as well get the Greddy SE instead of the SP2, since it has replaced it!! Looks way better anyway!!
