Exhaust Tone

What's up,

I'm looking for an exhaust for an 8 with the highest tone. I would rather have the sound of a 2-stroke than a muscle car. Is there an exhaust out with such a tone, or can I do anything to an exhaust system to make it higher?

MazdaManiac 03-07-2004 01:01 PM

Uh, why?

I don't know, I'm just used to that sound. Nothing really high, just higher than most muscle cars without the poppy ricer sound. Just a nice smooth sound.

again... why?

if u wanted that sound u shouldve gotten a mustang svt cobra... rotaries will give you an uncomparable sound. Don't butcher it

Since we have 1 or 2 new exhaust threads pop up here over and over again every day redundantly, here is the link to the one you should read first:

No one can tell you if it will sound like you want it to except you. Everyone has a different opinion on the same topic. This includes tone. Personally I feel that if you want a "high" tone, drive at a high rpm.

just take your existing exhaust and and drill six 1 3/4 holes on the bottom...you will feel a noticeable difference in noise...he he he

high tone...hmm, i'm sure you can go to a ricer store and they'll give you a list of places that will custom build you an exhaust and try to fit some weird mufflers on it and some tin cans.

MazdaManiac 03-09-2004 02:41 AM

Year, pretty much any "straight - through" type muffler will produce that sound.

wakeech 03-09-2004 02:54 AM

yup

it's the flared tips, and huge resonating chambers that change the tone to that deep ricer fart we all love to hate.

if you want to keep it buzzy, all you need to do is go for a straight through of some sort, and keep your piping consistantly small, and keep the tach pinned near redline

Ohhhh......cool, so you want it to sound like a fart can!
