yeah, you'll go through a whole range of sounds before it settles in. I never used the silencers and i don't think i'll ever need to.

How much hp gain with this exhuast??

JantzenRX-8 08-06-2009 11:39 PM

Just sent you a message but I don't have any before and after dynos. I'm just assuming its similar to other dual exhausts. Butt dyno didn't feel anything.

Do you have any rattle in your tips? MY passenger side is rattling the rivets seem to be loosening and its driving me crazy any idea on how to take the rivets out and what size they are lol?

DeViLbOi 12-03-2009 05:21 PM

One of the locals had the same problem with his AP exhaust. He ended up taking a screw and jamming it into the gap between the tip and exhaust and then using a dremmel to cut it off. Once it covers in carbon you'll never seen it.

Cf05 12-03-2009 05:42 PM

not a bad last resort but id love to fix it the right way if its not a huge pain thanks for the tip though!

dhan 12-03-2009 05:48 PM

Great exhaust man. I know how you feel haha with my greddy sp2 and ap midpipe setup wow i can barely hear people talk in my car cause its loud haha and people in the back seat can def. never hear what you are saying to them. Letting car alarms go off is pretty fun ay? haha :).

JantzenRX-8 12-05-2009 09:04 AM

One of my tips rattles occasionally.

I replaced the tips because i had damaged one of the in a minor accident. I can't remember what size rivets i used but they were the biggest rivet i could find at Lowes.

I had to install them twice because the first time i did it was about 3 days before the rattle was intolerable once again. I ended up re-installing them and putting small washers on the back side of the rivets to give it more grip and pinch it together a little more. It's been 4-5 months and it seemed to work except occasionally i do get a small rattle from one of them.

I'm thinking about re-installing them again and maybe using some high temp JB Weld to seal the deal :dunno:

Still, you gotta love this exhaust. Any time i go to a track day or autocross the first words out of people's mouths are "what exhaust do you have on there? That's the best sounding rotary i've ever heard"

Cf05 12-05-2009 01:25 PM

Oh absolutley I get that all the time aswell, I love the exhaust! But the rattles sounds awful I'll see what I can do about it today thanks for the tip!

Interesting , i wonder if my rivets are rattling as well. Its hard for me to locate my rattles since it only happens under load it seems =/.

Things just got a bit more interesting ;)

Update?

Thinking about puting a exhaust on my 05, its just too quite stock.

JantzenRX-8 02-10-2010 08:45 AM

I installed a Racing Beat dual resonated mid-pipe a couple of weeks ago and i'm liking what i'm hearing so far.

At first i didn't think it was any louder than the stock cat but now that i'm used to it there are definitely some parts in the rev range that are a little louder than before. It really depends how you drive it. There are some days when it's raining and cold where i'll just putt around 99% of the time and it's just a little louder than i'd like it to be but i think it more than makes up for it on sunny warm days with the windows open mashing on it through an overpass. It sounds straight up mean :lol2:

I can't wait to get it on the track and listen to it WOT for lap after lap after lap :D:

I'll make a video once the weather shapes up and i get a camera. I used my buddy's camera before which worked out well but i live about 2000 miles away from him now and i dont know anyone who has a decent camera around here yet. This was an x-mas present to myself but i was debating between the mid-pipe and an GoPro Hero HD. Chicken before the egg i guess. I'll post a video within a couple of months. I want to get a camera for my first track day on March 23 so you should see one before then.

Oh and one more thing about this mid-pipe over the stock cat is that there are a lot less pops and cackles in the overrun. Which i miss.. The stock cat was not too much, not too little, just right :)

How is the RB midpipe working out? Think there was any gain in power and did you revise software? I am thinking about buying one this week, but i want it quiet...

DeViLbOi 02-22-2010 09:04 AM

The Racing Beat midpipe is not quiet by any stretch of the imagination. If your primary concern is quiet...do NOT buy a midpipe.

So far so good. I'm getting the car tuned in a couple of months but even without the tune it feels a little more powerful. I mean its not mind blowing or anything but i just feel like my car is running really strong right now. All the little mods here and there are starting to make a difference :)

It's really not that much louder with the mid-pipe, honestly.

DeViLbOi 02-22-2010 01:13 PM

From stock to ES R1-T w/ RB DR midpipe is quiet? Are you high? Maybe you have been breathing in too much of that exhaust.

Gr8Bullet 02-22-2010 01:15 PM

Lol I can't wait till I get this exhaust.

Ha! I was assuming he already knew the ES R1-T was not quiet. I was just saying that the RB dual res mid-pipe doesn't make it that much louder than the ES R1-T by itself.

Prosk8er735 02-25-2010 08:19 PM

ok guys im on the bridge of ordering this same exhaust like within the next 24 hours what i wanna kno is do i buy the exoticspeed midpipe with cat? Is there really any gains to doing that other than maybe just sound? Just got my car not too long ago so its pretty much stock as far as performance.

DeViLbOi 02-25-2010 09:01 PM

The midpipe will remove some of the airflow restriction that is naturally inherent in the stock exhaust system. Your car will be slightly louder, have some more HP and will fail any emissions check that you might take with it on your car.

Prosk8er735 02-25-2010 09:51 PM

were not talking anything really noticeable with the hp gains tho right like 2 or 3 ...? The cat'd mid pipe would still make u fail emissions ?

DeViLbOi 02-26-2010 05:57 AM

Either you are buying a new cat or you are buying a midpipe...you are not buying both.

This. ES has maintained that for the RII. I have exactly the same feeling as you towards my new RII. Seems like a few blankets in the trunk and some miles will do the trick.
