exhaust removal help!!
So i bought a new agency power exhaust and i went to put it on myself but all of the bolts on the stock exhaust are either really really tight or they are rusted on. i used penetrating oil to try and loosen them but it really didnt help. I was just wandering if anyone ran into this problem and what they did to solve it. Worst case scenario, i will just take it to a shop to have them do it but i would rather not spend the money if i can just do it myself. Help? |
Which bolts? The three at the front of the midpipe (if you got the midpipe)? Or the two at the back of the midpipe with the springs on them?

liquid wrench and brute force was enough to get the spring bolts off for me.
like Easy said though, header-midipe bolts or midpipe-catback bolts? |
lots of people eventually have to cut them off and buy new hardware. When you replace them be sure to use anti-seize to prevent this from happening later.

when i put in my hks hi power i had the same exahust problem!
all it is is liquid wrench and a lots and lots of patience and force... spray the pentrating spray and let it soak for a good 10-20 minutes. when me and my friend did we used a hammer to break the spring bolts free, cause we didnt have a break bar..eventually it came free. its frustrating as hell but goodluck with it! |
You will not get the bolts loose on the connector pipe. You should be able to get the spring loaded bolts loose that connect to the cat though. After that have fun getting the hangers out :)

the three by the header are punched in from the factory. they are not meant to come out. just go to your local home depot and get some grade 8 bolts. thats what i did and it worked fine with the stock nuts

So the front nuts come off the bolts and then it pulls off the bolts if the you have the rear diassembled?

Like everyone else has said (in regards to the nuts after the cat), you have to manhandle those nuts off. Liquid wrench and a breaker bar or a long piece of pipe should help a lot. Make sure your car is securely on stands and curse a lot while you force the nut.
BTW my sockets were all shallow but still managed to get them off even though the rachet was not seated all the way into the socket. |

thanks guys. yeah i plan on getting some liquid rench and pumping some iron to get those bolts haha. and i am planning on taking everything off. i got the whole kit including the cat delete pipe (i am aware that it is illegal haha) so everythihng has to go. thanks

torch em. always has worked for me. and I mean get the suckers red hot. if your lucky it will come off easy, and if your unlucky you will just twist the metal off like a peice of soft candy. either way you can take it apart. and worst case scinerio you just buy new hardware

Torch and breaker bar work great.
Also if its a 6-point hex head, use a 6-point socket. |
yeah, torch works good. you can just get a small one and just heat up the nut, but be careful, the liquid wrench might catch on fire.

yeah i am surprised that it shoots too. and it shoots well. i have another video im gonna upload. this one is a HUGE fireball. My friends and i drive around and they record me doing it. haha
