Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is NOT a genuine Mazdaspeed component; I think its just a regular component made by some company overseas, with a imitation Mazdaspeed badge, trying to pass off as a genuine component. Don't Buy It, Beware! I haven't heard of anyone using it, or if any of the stated performance improvements could be proven.

In general I would suggest you to stay off on buying parts from eBay; not worth the risk. Like Xdrian said, use the regular grounding kit, which consists of 4-6 grounding wires.

They make the car start up faster, make the stereo louder, and give you brighter lights - they can also offset underdriving slightly.

Correct me if I'm wrong but once the car is running what does the battery do except get charged back by the alternator??

The difference between a good and bad one is in how hard it it to install it. This MOD adds ZERO HP.

the alternator doesn't run the electrical system on your car the battery does. The alternator doesn't produce a constant output because it is tied to the engine speed, so it charges the battery which puts out a relatively constant voltage. Note that I said relatively constant. The actual voltage output varies slightly depending on demand. As an example, if youv'e ever had a car with a powerful enough stereo system you can actually watch the headlights dim every time the bass hits.

I am inclined to disagree. If the battery ran the entire system, then unpluging the battery during the cars operation should result in an immediate dead engine, however this is not true. The car will continue to run via the alternator output voltage. The only time the battery is used is if the draw become greater than the output of the alternator. (Such as on startup) The alternator voltage varies, but not much -/+2 Volts at most.

I may have oversimplified. The electrical system in your car is routed through the battery to ensure a constant voltage output. The alternator alone will not allow normal operation of the vehicle because as soon as demand becomes greater than output ( such as turning the headlights on while idling ) the car will shut off. Older cars generally have lower power requirements and a less critical need for a stable power output while newer cars ,due to computers and such, are much more sensitive to voltage fluctuations. What this means in specific reference to the RX is that if voltage drops too low the car will shut off because the computer has shut down taking with it control of the fuel and spark. On pre computer cars a voltage drop that effected the ignition system would simply not fire the spark plugs, if the interuption was brief enough all you would notice would be a stumble in the engine.

Modern electronics don't need perfect power delivery, however the more constant the power delivery the better that they work. So the little box that started this thread is supposse to guard against inefficiency by quieting spikes in demand on the electrical system.
