difference between mazsport turbo

i was just on the mazsport site ..... i was just wondering what is the difference between the type 1 and type 3 .... is it only apperance or power .... because from what its stated both kits can get you to da same spot in HP and TQ....

just wonderin ... need some help

Schimmle 07-21-2008 04:18 PM

From my understanding its just the placement of the turbo. Its the "bling" factor. Its in a more prominent spot so it can be seen, but functions the same.

SilverSurferRX8 07-21-2008 04:21 PM

nice so for $500 more u can see the turbo .... while the other has the turbo buried under piping and stuff... SHIZZLe ... i can care less if you see my turbo when i pop the hood all dat matter is that i want you to see that i have turbo when i blow past ya... hahah ... i mean i aint gonna be da fastest but i will be fast hahah

kersh4w 07-21-2008 08:42 PM

yah ok haha ya u do dat

tajabaho1 07-21-2008 10:42 PM

500$ more to not kill yourself trying to install it, and then realise you blew your engine

Razz1 07-21-2008 11:23 PM

Also I believe the turbo runs cooler on top.

When its on the bottom its better for center of gravity. Easier to hide from prying eyes?

im not gonna go crayz .... i just want some boost in my life .... i wont go for a serious amount of boost .... so to keep it cooler .... and safer i should spend the extra 500 and have a hood with vents right ..???

tajabaho1 07-22-2008 09:41 PM

well the type 1 is very hard to install :(

the type 3 would be easier, and also, remember all the lines will be easier to managable

also, the type 3 comes with a new ECU case which you will inevitably need

but if you dont need so much boost, I'd say buy a BHR/MM turbo kit because, they are cheaper, and you won't kill yourself installing it, and they run at lower PSI.......but it will make less power up top

how is this so , they are practically the same installation ? Enlighten me .....

tajabaho1 07-22-2008 10:23 PM

1st off, you don't need to saw half your car off to install the MM/BHR turbo........at least not from what I've heard

2nd, I don't think you will have to put in new Motormounts, which will transform your car into an integra (seriously)

3rd, you won't have to change your Water reserve cap because guess what, you can just tap the throttle coolant line and not mess with stock stuff!!

4th, you don't have to fuck with the APV valve because your turbo and all of your lines aren't in the way of Mazda stuff

5th. Woot! no retarded injector installs!

6th, why oh why, Tap the oil pan?

7th, why oh why, give me an oil return line that doesn't fit with your integra motormount?

Brettus 07-22-2008 10:41 PM

really Taja , you are having a hard time with it - but from reading between the lines the mm/bhr turbo is a major pia to install as well so until you have done both ...............

tajabaho1 07-22-2008 11:47 PM

I'd do both if I had the money............lol

but seriously........this thing is a pain to install

The big problem with my kit (and all the others) is that people refuse to follow the instructions.
As soon as they open the box, they have "better" ideas on how to install it.
The GReddy Upgrade just replaces the GReddy turbo. There is no real "work" involved.
On my back, in a "foreign" garage, without my normal tools/jacks/supports, in the cold, I can do it in two sessions.
With the right tools in a comfortable environment, I can do it in one.
So, a "normal" person should be able to tackle it in 3 or 4 well-measured work sessions by themselves.

With that said my estimated time will be 10 well measured sessions.

Well, the first thing out of my mouth whenever anyone starts a project is "take your time".
If you go into a project like this with the mind-set that "I am going to finish it by Sunday night, even if it kills me", you are just setting yourself up for hardship.
That is part of the reason why I hate to see this kind of stuff installed by "professionals". Time is almost ALWAYS the primary concern, not thoroughness.

Yes, this is exactly right. only thing i would add is to check 50 times to make sure you have all the needed parts, fittings, hoses, clamps, screws, couplers, tools, roto-zip, bandaids, ect... way before you start! shoot even mockup how it will fit together on the living room floor.

Do it right the first time or you are no better than any other ricer out there ;)

thats only a matter of turning up the boost to flow more air.... assuming you have the knowledge and skills to manage spark, fuel, charge temps, and coolant-oil temps

This is how I tune my car:

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeefffff. My car is too fast. Can't you do something about it?
