Has anyone installed a Denso fuel pump on an S1 fuel pump assy?

Ive done a lot of searching and reading and seems almost everyone install either a walbro, deatschwerk, aeromotive or stock arram. However, according to this thread https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/fuel-pump-solution-all-failure-modes-176491/ the stock Denso fuel pump for an Evo is a drop in solution.

There are two different Evo pumps I could find. Denso part number 195130-3360 is for an Evo 8 seems to be a 180+lph pump. While Denso part number 195130-3570 is for the Evo 9 and seems to be a 200+ lph pump.

There are a number of universal pumps that will fit. I've installed a Walbro and an AEM pump into the stock S1 assembly. I'm no expert, but as I understand it fuel pumps pretty much fall into a handful of designs, so pretty much every company makes one that will drop into our housing.

Right, understood.

However, I read that most high volume/pressure pumps out pump themselves and empty the fuel bowl, thus creating other issues.

So I wanted to see if someone has tried a Denso pump, specifically one rated closer to stock volume. I've heard that Denso fuel pumps are more reliable.

In side by side picture you will notice the Denso pump is slightly longer, but that is only the top, from the metal body down is the same length.

Haven't done the install yet. Have a lot going on with my move to Texas. I'm taking the car with me tho.

I'll update this once I do get to it.

I'm thinking it won't fit in the enclosed fuel pump housing properly due to the extra length. There are plenty of reliable pumps out there. For the S1 fuel pump housing the Deatschwerks DW100 will slightly flow better than OE @ 165 lph and the DW200 is rated for 255 lph. Brand new they're only $100 msrp. Theres also the 340 lph DW300, but you need to be considering a different setup than OE at that point IMO.

The S2 fuel pump and housing is a different configuration (65c fuel pump type and internals are slightly different but replaceable unlike the S1), but externally is almost the same and can be made to fit in an S1 with some modifications

So the OEM pump took a crap on me while heading down to Austin for round 1 &2 of the Pirelli World Challenge series. Had to stop to fill-up and let the pump cool down at least once each way.

So last weekend decided to tackle the FP change. Didn't feel it was necessary to take any pictures since the fuel pump change is well documented here.

The Denso fuel pump fits just as the stock one and the slightly increased height on the top plastic (fuel outlet and connector) made no contact on the housing. The only thing I did notice was that the fuel filter sock fitment was not as tight as with the OEM pump.

The Denso pump is a lot quieter, but I guess that the OEM Arram one was noisy due to being bad.

So are you say that have to buy a S2 Fuel pump assembly and then buy a Deatschwerks DW200? or are you able to just put the DW200 into the S1 Assembly?
