Cz1.1 vs light flywheel vs Aluminum pulley set
 

I have heard many different arguments of all of these. Bottom line, what gives you more hp for the money, is there any combination of the two that work better. I porbably have enough to buy one, maybe two of these mods, help me pick the right one.

with the CZ if you tweak it well it could be close but it will take a lot of work

I would go ECU, then pulleys, then lightweight flywheel, just because installing a flywheel is a big pain if you haven't removed and reinstalled a transmission before, and it is really expensive to have done by someone else, so that 500$ flywheel just became a $900 mod if you don't do the work yourself, plus if you want to do the clutch at the same time, $1400! But if you can install it yourself, I would go with the flywheel first.

flywheel by far the best upgrade....although i have not "tuned" my chip which seems to be important.

I think the light flywheel is the most expensive to install (if dealer installed) BUT gives the most reliable increase in acceleration right out of the box. ...No excuses, no tuning, no voiding engine warranty.

Warranty issues are why I chose the flywheel over CZ - especially since I think folks are still frying their coils sometimes. The CZ seems to give inconsistent results if you don't tweak it - and I don't feel comfortable tweaking the brain of a car that is smarter than I am! :)

I chose the MS flywheel, again, for warranty considerations. But gents, I wish I had chosen the lightest one available! I love the MS version, but I drool thinking about how much improvement there would be with the ACT pro-lite!

No burnt coils here :D. I think the CZ GB #2 units solved that problem.

I really want the RB flywheel. Anyone ever change out their own flywheel? Is it hard to do? It's definitely tedious but is it technically difficult?

Having experienced both the CZ and the Mazdaspeed flywheel seperately I side with the flywheel all the way. No warranty issues, better driveability and no fooling with tuning. Add up all your time and extra money for cables etc, and that CZ starts to look expensive too.

I remember someone posting a DIY on it a while ago i couldn't find it though it's probably been move.

all 0-5 hp of acceleration depending on which gear your in...

I thought it was 10-15hp increase and is a little more pronounced low end

plus shifting is smoother and better gas mileage

If the Mazdaspeed flywheel is installed by a dealer I don't see any reason it would void the warranty. The flywheel install is tedious, especially if you have never removed a transmission from a car before. Even for someone who has spent some time cranking on their car the flywheel install is not for the faint of heart. Without having the right tools (air compressor, impact gun, full set of sockets, u-joints, and extensions) it will end up being much more costly as well.

ahhhhh so the MAZDASPEED flywheel installed by the dealer is the only way to keep warranty?

I agree, flywheel is no shade-tree install, you better know your way around.

Not just basic tools, it helps to have a 'dummy' input shaft to set it up before you torque it down......or you could do it the hard (and expensive) way.
