CZ midp4 - should I get with existing mods

Some constructive feedback please !

I have the following mods and would like some opinions whether to get the CZ midp4 - can zoomer midpipe with 5" high flow cat and resonator in terms of expected gains

K&N Intake
SR Motorsports pullies
SR Motorsports flywheel

I do not plan on getting cat back exhaust if I get the mid pipe with high flow cat due to expected high noise output. I may get the CZ stage 1 when I think all the bugs are out.

The MidP-4 hight flow cat plust resonator is good for 8-12 WHP on it's own. You definitely can feel the difference. Go for it, especially if you're going to keep the stock exhaust, as this unit plus an aftermarket catback muffler is loud, IMHO.

Some data points for you. Maurice had the original 4" high flow cat with resonator. It was WAY too noisy with the Greddy cat back - so good reasoning on your part. He put the stock catback back on.

He has just installed the newer 5" high flow cat and resonator, and noticed an improvement in power - hasn't measured it yet, but "seat of the pants" says it's faster. Still quiet (stock catback).

You should be ok mixture wise, as the car still runs a little rich in most places, even with the "M" flash.

He also found out why some were reporting leaking problems - the stainless spacers were too long. That's being fixed now. All hardware is stainless, as is the cat and resonator. They look very nice when new. Once run for awhile they get purply from high temp staining, and build up a little brown oxydation.

They also have two O2 sensor bungs (before and after the cat) and two pyrometer sensor bungs (also before and after the cat). That's for exhaust gas temp gauges, if you decide to add one. They come with stainless plugs for those.

I recommend using nickle high temp antisieze compound on the hardware when installing.

Anyone know who Darrell is? I didn't make this post and I haven't shared my password...

weird...

RX8-Friend,

Does the current midp4 from Canzoomer use the 5" cat you're refering to? Are there better mid-pipes with high-temp cats available or soon to be available?

Thanks,
Darrell

So, the CZ midpipe/high flow cat can be used without any ECU tuning?

RX-8 friend 06-30-2004 10:19 PM

Yes, the supplier has switched to the 5" parts.

Can it be used on -any- car without tuning? I'd bet you could find a car that would ping, if you looked hard enough. Some cars ping stock. I'd also bet you could fix that with the new cold "8" heat range leading plugs. So no "tuning".
