cold air or short ram?
i just recently purchased a 2004 rx8 and i love it. i want to start doing some work on it and im not exactly too tech savvy about cars yet. ive been lurking the forum and i havent found anything too useful on this subject. what do you guys recommend and why, regarding getting a cold air intake as opposed to a short ram. you can PM me or just post it here. thanks

Intakes provide little gain so go with what you like. I think the top three are the K&N v2 , AEM :) / Mazdaspeed & the Racingbeat Revi. Do an advance search on them and pick.
Since intakes gains are low I would lurk around here for a used one and save some $$$ |

your oem intake is well designed. Going with a short ram is a step backwards. The airflow isn't going to be as nice over the maf, and you'll be heating up the air around the intake whenever the car is not moving quickly. I don't see any reason why a short ram would ever be used unless you had no other choice.
