Clutch Pedal reinforcement welding question:
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys -
I know a couple vendors offer welded clutch pedals to prevent the brackets from separating due to the 2 small spot welds from the factory. Anyway, I work in a weld shop and I'm going to weld mine in house (along with numerous clutch pedals from the others 8 owners in the area) I've seen the TIG reinforcement weld that really lay it in there... but I feel that is a little bit of over-kill. So, below is the picture where I'm planning to weld. 8-10 additional TIG welds around the outside of the bracket. (in yellow circles - the two red arrows mark the stock spot welds) The 3rd pic is a repaired pedal, which I think is way too much weld for the stresses on the pedal. I'm really just looking for any feedback or reasons why there should be more welding, or if anyone has broken their pedal, where did it fail and will these welds address that failure? Thanks in advance. |
I like the last picture.
Most brackets I've seen that were welded looked like crap. too bad no one picks up from Mazsport. They had a brand new brackect that was perfect. |

More looking for feedback from anyone who's had a broken clutch bracket, anyone who has reinforced their clutch by welding, or anyone who has an aftermarket replacement clutch who thinks there could be more/less done to improve on Vyn's plan. Expect kudos all around but there's no reason not to throw this out there for commentary. |
