Just wondering where some of you guys picked yours up from

I found some on ebay for about 246, plus a 25$ shipping charge and a 8.25% sales tax.

Did anyone by any chance pick theirs up for lower then that price? if so from where?

thanks

My friends AUTO G, He also has an AEM intake

from a roll he would always pull on me after like 4th, it has much better high end then our 8's, But from a Stop i can pretty much beat him from the video you saw my tires were really bald so i would launch really low and wouldnt get enough power and even when i lauched at around 5500k i would get to much wheel spin , I'll be getting my Rims and new set of tires soon so ill run him again and see what goes down.

LiL BenNy 11-19-2005 10:50 AM

hmm kw1k from your 3rd pic posted... the filter is right where the license plate covers it.. will that have any effect on the intake?

kw1k 11-19-2005 06:41 PM

Well, Now that I look at it , yeah you're right it does covor that area. I probably will reduce air going to the intake since there is a plate infront of it, But i dont have my front plate on so it doesnt matter for me.

But for the people who have it. I really don't think it's going to make that much of a differnce and you can always move the plate over a little

therm8 11-19-2005 07:00 PM

Shouldn't affect airflow. The engine just sucks it in. As long as the filter has access to air, which it does, it'll get all it needs. The plate could help keep the filter drier from wet road spray from the car in front of you.

mikeb 11-20-2005 02:39 AM

sounds good but dont you need a bypass so it doesnt get water in it

Only time you need that is if you plan on having the filter submerged in water. It will not suck in enough water, if any, to matter unless it is fully submerged, water doesn't like to travel uphill!

Anyone stupid enough to drive their rx8 in deep enough water to submerge the filter in the AEM setup deserves what happens to them :)

MikeKats 11-21-2005 02:16 PM

what if you run through a big puddle by accident?

mikeb 11-21-2005 05:23 PM

excatly my thoughts

normally with a cold air you need a bypass which is like 50 bucks
is it even avaiable for the rx8 yet
I wouldnt want the intake without it
better safe than sorry

Big enough to submerge the filter? I doubt it, unless its a pretty flooded street. The AEM filer for the CAI is over a foot off the ground.

Besides, rotaries don't hydrolock in the same way as Piston engines. Yes it is possible, but MUCH more difficult. Don't believe me? Search the 2nd gen section on rx7club.com for "water trick" and you will read countless testimonies of people that intentionally suck in enormous amounts of water through vacuum sorces to essentially steam clean the internals and get rid of carbon.

mikeb 11-21-2005 07:50 PM

very interesting^^^^^^
so we dont need a bypass?

ddub 11-21-2005 07:56 PM

My opinion? Not at all. But I'm not going to tell you what to do, make your own educated decision.
