catback pipe question and resonator question

Hello everyone, I have 2 questions that hopefully someone can answer for me.

Whenever someone asks me what my exhaust is, i have no idea how to answer them in less than a paragraph. Recently my cabacks can was making a rattling noise at a very low rpm so i took it off to inspect, and as i wait for a replacement, my exhaust is ending with a pipe i dont know the name of.

After the cat, there is a pipe that ends at around the diff cover. That pipe connects to the catback muffler section. What is that pipe? I never know what to call it.

for anyone curious, yes the car is loud. It became atleast twice as loud when i removed the catback. Since i still have the cat, it doesnt have the metallic sound that i hear many of you complain about with midpipes. Though between 2000-4000rpm i get 4 points of vibration in my cabin and is pretty annoying :lol2:

AS FOR MY SECOND QUESTION...

Ive been looking at midpipes for a very long time now, but if i were to get a midpipe i would want to make epic flames. Does having multiple resonators decrease the amount/frequency of flames out the exhaust? For example i know some midpipes come in single res, double res and then there are test pipes with 0 resonators.

I dont want a 0 res test pipe because they are simply too loud, but i want a flame like the youtube video below. (corksport single res)

i have dual res midpipe with RR single exit exhaust and it shoots pretty decent flames :)

I just call it a connecting pipe because well.....it connects two parts of the exhaust system. As for resonators and flames, I don't think it makes a difference. As long as there is no cat then it will pop flames in the right condition. I have the RB dual res midpipe mated to the RR single exit and my buddies tell me I pop flames quite often when we are cruising. Hope this helped!

is a dual res midpipe less likely to shoot as big flames as a single res?

it could be called an s pipe but dont quote me on that. I have the MazSport dual resonator midpipe and ive only tried twice but i havent been able to shoot flames. dont get a midpipe just because you want it to make flames. I wanted flames but now i have it and like i said i tried twice to shoot flames and that was when i first got it.

Dual resonators will soak up the sound too, i got mine because i didnt want it to be ridiculously loud and its almost like stock. you might be able to tell a slight difference but anybody who doesnt drive it everyday wont be able to tell.

op, i would call it the connecting pipe as well. as stated to pop flames all you need is no cat. we had a dyno day this past weekend with many different exhaust/mid pipe combos. i think mine made the best flames on the dyno. ap dual res header back.

nope didnt work. heeroguy posted a link in our dyno thread in the ne subforum

the metallic sound doesnt bother you? Ive heard thats a common problem with the ap midpipes.
If the packing is blown out of the resonators does that make it easier to make flames? Im just curious if the packing in the resonators do a similar job to the packing in the cat.

Though.. eventually the packing gets blown out of all of them except the bhr.
