Have the TurboX catted midpipe and so far very happy with it, 4k miles on it with no codes and no stink, plus 3" throughout. Have no idea if it will pass a sniffer test though.

If you need coils and plugs just get the BHR kit so you can stop wasting your money on coils that will burn out every year or two. As for the Cat you have two options go the racepipe route which is shitty for the enviroment and lets you shoot flames out your exhaust (my choice) or you can look through your cat convert options and decided if how much you are willing to spend and how savvy you are with welding. In the long run $1000 far parts is cheaper than 3000 for a new engine and then 1000 for the parts you failed to replace and caused your engine to blow. But this is just my opinion

ok so talked to a guy at hjsNA and quoted me $597 cdn with shipping for part number 905 0080 which is ment for 280HP but does not have the o2 sensor bung have to get a welder buddy to do that or whoever you take it too.

So the HJSNA cat is listed in the OP with 100 CPSI, but on the website with the correct part number, its listed as 200 CPSI.
Which is it supposed to be? Just making sure before I buy the wrong cat.

im gonna try dual cheapo ebay twin loop mufflers. got one on my mx3, headers, high flow vibrant cat, 2.5" pipe front to back and 1 twin loop mugen knockoff. still sounds beast but not excessively loud and havent had any probs with it not no rotting or nothing. cost me all of 50$ cdn for it.

I got a 04 rx8 and when its at idle it seems like my cat is rattling and whenever i rev smoke comes out of the exhuast. The smell is super duper strong too. im just wondering whats the perfect catalytic converter replacement that still passes california state emissions. basically an oem but cheaper.

rattling in the cat is the honey combs bouncing around in there and its toast. and from what ive seen with the 8's is its either a cat from dealership or the hjs ones. i had the same problem with mine and ran like **** cuz of it but cat was still under warrenty from dealer. 100k kms or like 6 yrs or something like that. i dont think there is a inexpensive fix for cats and 8's, can go no cat but like u said ur in cali. prolly any cat that can handle a turbo engine would be good for an 8 cuz our engines run really hot and they toast normal cats. our 8's are very unique in almst every aspect so theres really no easy fix with them.

That CAT warranty is a federal mandate in the US.
The term is 8 years or 80k miles............period.

You gonna eat that?

Depends a lot on ignition health and other factors.
Misfires kill cats.
Could last years with proper maintenance, or only days without it.

do you not like reading?
go back to the new owners forum and read the stickies. they'll tell you all about this wonderful car and engine, and even give you tips on how to properly maintain it.
I'm sorry, but if you're asking such basic questions after a year on the forums, you deserve a bit of a kick in the butt

this is very tru. i just torched my cat yesterday due to bad plug/wire/coil pack. cat was brand new under warrenty swap less than 10k kms on it so it lasted about a month for me but that was my fault tho. aye r teh poor. so now i need new plugs wires and packs along with a cat. $580 for ignition setup from black halo racing. dealer wants $269 for a set of 4 plugs... dont want to ask what they want for everything else. time to pull the mx-3 outta retirement.

Can someone tell me about the rp supercat? seems like some good reviews on it but not enough to convincing me to buy it. would proper maintenance such as ignition and normal daily driving not much aggressive driving keep it last for at least a couple of years and remove the intense smell of fuel? Anyone from california pass smog with it too?

DO NOT pay the stealership that much for plugs. You can get them from BHR for $80. He has plenty, I've seen them and the $580 is for the BHR coil kit including plugs & custom made wires. If you're looking for an even cheaper route eBay is your answer ($249 for NGK plugs, wires, and OEM coils). Don't give the dealers anymore money than you have to. Only thing you should pay the dealer for is a compression test if you don't know anyone else that can do it.
yeah man i decided to go with the BHR setup along time ago just cash is tight and thought i had time. my mother was in the hospital and i drove 90kms in 20 mins which doing the limit for me is 50 mins normally. so i dont think my 8 liked that to much with an ignition prob. but was an emergency. so now i save what little scraps i have to get my 8 running again. bloody love this car.

I can send them this week if you still need them. Let me know. All I ask is that you pay it forward when you're able.

HJS #9095 0182 on BHR midpipe
I just had an HJS #9095 0182 welded into a BHR midpipe that previously had the Davesport cat. My car is a 2009 GT, 86k, new coils at 60k.
The Davesport threw a CEL after about 16k (daily driver, lotta freeways, occasional open road sprints but no track time). 16k out of a $140 cat is I guess reasonable. Anyway, the guy at HJS NA said I'd get more life out of a a 200 cpsi 'high durability' model, and Charles Hill mentioned this particular part when I asked about a replacement for the Davesport. This particular HJS needed a little bit of cutting to fit the BHR midpipe.
New cat sounds and smells very clean like my stock cat but feels punchier. In comparision the Davesport/BHR set-up stank from the get-go and was a little louder than stock, all okay with me but I don't have time to mess with the exhaust system every 16k. Hoping this will last.
Name: HJS part-No. 9095 0182
Link: HJS Contact
Included: cat only
manufacturer: HJS
$720 w/free shipping
CEL Codes: None
CPSI:200
Type:Unkown

Wow, this thread is a bit old but here goes:
Looking to change my cat after the relevant CEL came on and after having done the CO2 test (max limit is 0.55 and I'm on 1.5-1.9) Based in Germany.
I got in touch with HJS Germany and they recommended HJS article 90950166 (connection 76mm) for me. It costs 550 euro. I read about the HJS cats on the forum and it seems people are happy with them. Has anyone had an experience with this particular article 90950166 though?
I also found some cheap options on ebay like this one:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/Walker-Katal...frcectupt=true
And this one:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/KATALYSATOR-...frcectupt=true
What do you think?
