Carbonetic Parts...
I understand that the twin clutch would be easier on the pedal, but is it worth the additional cost over a single? Also Carbonetic has two versions of each, one is 1100kg and the other is 1350kg. Since the price for either version is about the same, why wouldnt you want the 1350kg? I will look up the weight diffrences...reduction of weight is the goal.

all else being equal, higher force = greater torque capability and a dual disc will have twice the TQ capacity of a single disc, this all changes if they are of different diameters, different PP force, etc
the PP force is the PP force regardless if its a single or dual disc 2 way activates the LSD both entering and exiting the turn, 1 way activates on power exit only, 1.5 way activates fully on exit and partially on corner entry, 2 way requires extreme smoothness over 1.5 way turning in because it makes the car more prone to oversteer, on an RX-8 IMO a 2 way would be better suited for track racing and a 1.5 is better suited for autox/street |
Once again Team you prove that...behind the bag...your actually quite useful...
I'll take your recomendation on the LSD... But if the price for the 1100kg dual and the 1350kg dual are the same...why would you not want to just go with the 1350kg? I cant think of any reason not to, but I might be missing something... |
it's going to be a lot harder on your leg and actuation parts, you won't be making anywhere near the torque that even the lower unit is capable of holding so why bother going with the stiffer unit, let alone a dual?
I'd recommend the Kaaz "solid" LSD, it can be converted between 1.5 and 2 way later if you decide that it may be better suited for the change, model # SBZ1310 is their latest LSD for the RX-8 |
So you would still go with the Kaaz over the Carbonetic? There is a price difference for sure...but if that was not a factor...Kaaz?

I dont understand the point in a twin clutch disk sytem on a car that puts out like 100 lb/ft of torque? even a turbo'd 8 with 200 lb/ft of torque seems way overkill. Unless your going full drag or 20B turbo I dont see the point in a twin. $2300 is insane for a clutch.
