Canzoomer Borla exhaust.

Hello all,
i just received my Canzoomer stage 1.1 today. Hope to install tomorrow during the day...
In any case, i read stuff on many threads, and finally, i was able to get my exhaust to shoot flames. I currently have a Borla exhaust on, and that is about it. I only noticed the flames when a person told me i shot flames when i downshifted... regardless,
i was just wondering:

Many people have told me that With my canzoomer mod in place, my car will no longer shoot flames. My question to you all is -- what do i need to do to maintain the "shooting flames" scenario?

Does my Borla exhaust system come with a midpipe? Does it have a Cat still in place? Or is the borla system only a can...?

I read by canzoomer that he has the stage 1.1, cz midpipe, and a greddy sp2 and his is still able to shoot flames...

DOES MY BORLA COME WITH A MIDPIPE? The suspense is killing me. Also, NOT whp, about how much HP would i expect from the borla kit, and the canzoomer mod? Estimates?

Lastly: How much hp would the midpipe put out - the cz midpipe - if the borla exhaust system does not come with a midpipe?

Thank you for your patience all!!!

So you have a Borla exhaust and don't event know what it consists of? lol

it looked like it had the midpipe... Yet my question is some people have told me, that the car no longer flames with the cnzoomer mod... yet, the canzoomer guy (maurice) has said his car flames with his CZ midpipe, and greddy sp2 exhaust kit... You see where the confusion comes?

jaehyun, the flaming had a lot to do with overly rich a/f mixture. There are early threads showing flames (albeit smaller in size) even with the stock exhaust. Borla had big flames maybe because of better flow. As for canzoomer, his tune and subsequent Mazda tunes (L-M) are doing a better job with the a/f mixture. This "may" be lessoning the amount of unspent fuel that was escaping out the back previously.

do you know what a cat looks like?

OK, here's a rundown of the exhaust.

First there is a "downpipe" that takes the exhaust from the manifold to the cat.
There is a flange there and the cat is bolted in. The end of the "cat section" has another flange.
From there on is the cat. back, which is what the Borla, Greddy, etc. replaces. It consists of a pipe leading to the muffler(s) and the short tailpipe(s) (sometimes there are two mufflers - stock there is one, sometimes there are two tailpipes, and there is one system so far with one).
The mid-pipe replaces the cat. section. Maurice has a "mid-pipe" that consists of a cat. and a resonator, as the high flow cat allows too much noise through. The resonator is just a pipe with another larger one outside it, and holes in the inside one to allow sound to resonate in the space between the two pipes. Sometimes the space is filled with rock wool.
If you go to the vendors section - Canzoomers area, you will find a thread that shows pictures (posted by a customer) of the new 5" cat. and resonator.
