Cool man I look forward to it.

re: exhaust note & mods

I was gonna list my greedy oil pan, second oil cooler, catch can, grilles, clear corners, wheels, etc but decided to stick with the stuff that mattered

^ I notice that most YT exhaust clips are recorded in mono and therefore sounds like crap compared to IRL. You have to hear an HD stereo recording to get a more accurate sound, and have speakers capable of hitting low-freqs.

FYI, people always ask how the Turbo XS mates up to the BHr mid pipe so I snapped this pic. It's an exhaust spacer that you can get anywhere. It makes fitment with the weird Turbo XS flange easy.

That looks useful even for BHR to OEM, since the OEM flange is too thin for the default BHR hardware to work correctly (though I imagine Ray has since sourced an alternate set of hardware)

Now that I'm looking at the pic I am wondering if I should put the springs between the spacer and the flange of the mid pipe. It works fine this way though. Thoughts?

I would guess that the springs are to allow a level of flex in the system, but still provide tension against the nuts to prevent them from backing off. Give them something to push against.

Given the spring length, It seems to me that either the spring's height under full compression is greater than the spacer, and the spacer is no longer tight, or the spring's height under full compression is narrower than the spacer (or equal to), in which case you are making the spring irrelevant and making the full connection "solid".

This may be a dumb question but would it be possible to replace the davesport cat it it died as its looking like mine is on its way so was wondering if I took it to a welder they could grind the joints and weld in a new cat what du think has anyone tried this or would I be better of smashing the cat through and using it as a decat an buying a cheap cat of ebay for yearly emission testing.

I wouldn't think there is one, but does anyone see a problem with the spring being fully compressed here:

There is a pinhole sized leak that I just cannot get rid of, but I dont think it is significant enough to cause an issue. I literally have to put a pinky finger up against the flange to feel it.

Are you using the stock donut gasket or the TXS one?

upitty up.

Btw tried to get the oem springs on there to see if that would help, no dice, they wont fit on with the beefy TXS flange (which was previously mentioned by Ray)

So after a year of having the midpipe off the car after the DS cat exploded on the track, I decided to put it back on without a cat.

Now I'm getting a hissing sound when accelerating. I hear it most when driving down side streets or between barriers that can reflect the sound back towards me. It doesn't sound like a leak but just to be sure I'm going to take it back to the shop that installed it to get it refitted. I was thinking to be safe I should get new gaskets.. would new OEM gaskets from the dealership work? Using the stock catback.

Still sounds amazing though.

new gaskets wouldn't hurt; sometimes the bolts loosen a bit after install and I've had to go back and re-tighten them, got rid of the hissing sound

I would have them look inside the pipe to make sure there isn't a chunk of DS cat stuck in the pipe.

Tiny USPS driver just brought me a rather large box with a midpipe in it. Someone has pretty handwriting. I wanted the beautifully welded thing inside but my 3 year old wanted the box. It is now a boat currently being Crayola'd. A quiet daughter only cost me $450.
