best mods for performance hands down?

Ok so I pretty much read daily on all mods and search all day. But still I haven't found a thread that throws it all in a list. So if anyone cares to list the best mods for performance and power that are n/a. Listing and giving the hp you get from them since being stock. Even if its not hp and maybe a quarter mile time that would still be a pretty good idea on how much quicker ur car is. Pls if u don't have nuttin good to say don't say it at all. I understand there is probably a form like this but o well I'm sick of bringing back old threads from 2004. Fresh new thread for people who want good info from people willing to give good info.

i personally think freeing up the exhaust (headers, midpipe, and exhaust) would gain you the most power. then access port and ignition upgrade. the stock intake system is pretty much good enough. suspension mods and wheels are my personal favs.

Sounds pretty good. I kno its tough to get any numbers offmodding but I was just curious is a list of mods done can change some sorta time and acceleration for the most part. I have heard flywheel and short throw shifter and accessport u can run high 14's but Idk how true that is

+1. removing vfad and throwing in a K&N filter wont hurt either...

people have ran low 14's stock. It all comes down to the driver, so get yourself onto the track before throwing money at mods :eyetwitch

No kidding huh? I thought the lowest time stock was 14.49. That's cool then. Only one problem I live in mass and there isn't crap out here I know there's a track in new hamsphere but kinda wish there was more.

NoOdLe BoY 06-02-2009 01:36 AM

wasnt it Polak or someone that got that?

I think kersh4w got a 14.4

jimdiddy21 06-02-2009 03:08 AM

Ya def charles thanks

i know suspension goes a real long way...that probably has the most noticable gains...

but i think full exhaust and AP can free up some extra horsepower.

You can't be serious..."there isn't crap out here {for tracks}"?

:uhh:...umm NHMS, Lime Rock, NJMP Lightning, NJMP Thunderbolt, Watkins Glen, Mt Tremblant, Calabogie...there are so many great tracks it's embarrasing... choose from several purpose built race tracks great for HPDEs, several only a year or two old, or choose past Formula, Grand Prix, etc tracks. They vary from just over a mile long to over 3 miles long, up to 22 delicious turns.

Best of all they're all within an hour to a days drive... and to answer your question.... you could spend all the money you want putting engine related stuff in or on your car to try and make it faster.... you'll see virtually no payback in any of you times (1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 0-60mph, 0-100mph, etc.) ...at least in NA form....sorry but that is the truth. Anyone who says different is yanking your chain.

my 2c is spend your cash on the track, you're the only thing that'll make your car go fast...if you want toys, spend it on the suspension and tires, those are the only things that'll get you around a track faster then a stock car :) See you out there?

Charles you are absolutely right about that its easy to mess up the balance, but if its done correctly there are huge benefits to be found.

The Key is to find components that work well to gether and not fall for a slammed look.

Yep. Removing the VFAD and adding a Racing Beat Duct to my stock intake, further improved with a K&N high-flow flat filter, is the best mini-performance mod I've done to date. VFAD shutter hesitation is gone and the ram air effect is noticeable.

Roof spoiler and some deuce deuces! Sorry had to.

I would say an AP and exhaust. Maybe some nice tires.

Have a link to that filter?

Just to add to the list, the 4.777 diff is a great mod. Just had it installed last night. Will write up a review soon. Definitely seems quicker off the line with more perceived torque...

It's just the K&N flat filter that's the same form/fit (actually a bit thinner) as the stock air filter element. I got mine at Autozone. Of course pricier than the stock filter, but essentially life of the vehicle if properly maintained.

Yes, includes everything. And this is with the OEM 4.777 gear, not FEED
