Best mod for <300?
Like I'm sure none of you have heard that question before ;)
But I'm looking to have some spending money this month and was wondering what the best mod would be for less than $300. And I'm not just talking horsepower mods. ANYTHING. Springs, strakes, vents, short-shifter, midpipe, set aside for maintenance, save up for AP or something bigger, etc, etc. Visual, performance, maintenance, anything. Doesn't matter to me. Aside from my CAI and shift knob I just swapped out my spark plugs and my tires have less than 1000 miles on them. Thanks much guys. |
AFE Short Shifter $250 FTW!!!

Track day or driver skills day. Seriously. These are a ton of fun, you learn a lot, and will find out exactly what you want to do next after a skills day.
|
yeah that too...
Im going to Summit point in May for a two day event cannot wait! |
Track day FTW
If you want an actual part- gotta say AxialFlow short shifter |
driver mod
|
Really hard to beat a track day. But if your car needs any work then it will cost you more than $300. Make sure your brakes (rotors and pads), fluids, tires and the engine are up to the task before considering heading out to the track. If you do not have a helmet then see if you can rent one from them. Also you may need to take a short class before they allow you on the track.

Not really interested in the track. I've never been on one and won't have the funds if something goes wrong and my maintenance bills will most likely skyrocket. This is my only car too so if I can't get to work I'm toast. Perhaps in the future when I've built my car to be a little more durable and have the funds to smoke a set of tires and a tank of gas.
Also the AFE short-throw is priced at $270 without shipping. Where are you finding it at $250? |
I'd go for set of fnt/rear anti-sway bars.

your equation reads "best mod that is greater than $300"
should have been: best mod < $300 |
I was gonna mention that, but figured I give him a break! :)

4 rotor! ;)
Short shifter or springs would be a great mod for that price range. I'd highly recommend a track day / hpde |

should have been: best mod < $300 I was a bit spazzed out from work yesterday. I swear I'm not *quite* that dumb lol I've never heard of a 'driver's skills day' before. There's a Porsche dealer (in the ghetto ironically) and there's probably a BMW dealership somewhere around here. Is that where you sign up? And what do they teach you exactly? I'm sure everybody says this but I'm a pretty good driver on the street. Never been to a track before, and it sounds a bit scary :uhh: |

Trust me learning on the track is much safer and less scary than on the street. usually they are auto cross like courses. |
Fort Bragg, NC. I see a lot of RX8's here but I never hear of any gatherings. I know there's a lot of street racing that goes on by the mall area on weekends but I try to stay away from that. Never had a speeding ticket and I'd love for it to stay that way. Also my car is a little too stock to handle some of the cars I've seen out here (everyone here is military so of course there's 1.4 gazillion Mustang GT's).

5 rotors

Don't mean to thread jack, but where would you find events in montreal for stuff like this?
For car I say Sway bars, it'll make the car have virtually no body roll and heard it helps wheel hop. |
How about 8 rotors, 16 pistons, 4 turbochargers and 1 and 3/4 of a supercharger? ;)
Kicking around the AFE short-throw, Exotic speed midpipe, or going cheap and cheerful and buying the materials to paint my stock rims black. |
progress sway bars were my favorite mod
