B&B Midpipe, Exhaust? (Problem Found!)
So, if anyone remembers, a few weeks back I had some issues with my baby. When I started and warmed her up, I attempted to drive but had NO gas pedal - Nothing. I also had a CEL on. After 30 min of short driving and idling, everything was fine again, except the CEL. So, I cleaned the MAF/IAT, reset the ECU, and bam - CEL out and car running fine; or at least I thought.
I have been noticing power loss since then, but nothing major, just slightly at the top end - Until last night. I was on a closed road used for speed testing, and it got up to 194 KM/H, then nothing. The engine light started blinking and no power. I immediately pulled over and shut down the car. I got out and looked underneath to find a bright orange Cat. So I obviously have a Cat that I need to replace. I am thinking of getting a B&B Mid pipe, and hopefully soon the entire exhaust system replaced. The only thing is, I don't have a stock Cat on in the first place. The guy who had it before me replaced it with something - I know this because from what I have read a stock exhaust system should not shoot flames when shifting. I am wondering what you think about switching to the B&B Mid pipe, as well as any other suggestions for my issue. As well, I am needing to keep driving the car, and although I am not worried about the Cat unless I'm going high RPM's, I am thinking it should be fine for now - Is this correct? I have been driving for 2 weeks now with this. PS I am also sure that I will have to replace plugs, coils, etc. Thanks everyone |
Its clogged and its gonna get worse down the rpm range as time goes by. At one time my car started to overheat when i kept pushing it while troubleshooting. Get a mid-pipe with a high flow cat if you care about the environment or get a resonated mid-pipe if u don't.

Ok thanks. I was suggested to just straight pipe it for now

I had a clogged cat that backed up pressure and blew my ignition system and eventually blew my motor. Get that cat taken off immediately. Straight pipes are really loud, /i would recommend either a resonated midpipe or a high performance cat.

I ended up gutting cat, its not significantly louder than before, only around 7000 rpm. I noticed an immediate difference, as I knew I should. I will hopefully be getting a midpipe shortly, but want to swap the ignition/plugs first
