So, I'm After a Baffled sump and i can only find two online.

RX8 Performance high Capacity Oil Pan

An the Greddy Oil Pan.

Greddy RX8 Oil Sump

Which one should i go for? The RX8 Performance one is cheaper but the Greddy should be better quality (Mainly due to it being a bigger brand).

Does anyone have any experience with the RX8 Performance one?
(I have tried searching but no luck.)

The main reason I'm after one is because I'm going to run slicks and i don't fancy oil starvation.

I know there is lots about the greddy oil pan. Bit I can't find much about the rx8 one apart for from that you have said its a bitch to fit.

I have had an RX-8 performance pan for 4-5 years...I think it worked extremely well....it greatly increased my oil capacity without causing any problems with ground clearance

The first few of the pans had a problem with fitment..but that has been solved with later revisions..I had installed a later one and it bolted right on

I would recommend it over the Greddy....

Well, it's an oil pan. What do you hope to gain from using a non stock oil pan? the Greddy is cast to if you hit something you are fucked as it will likely crack, but it sure is pretty and fitment is spot on. The other guys oil pan supposedly works now fitment wise but adds other issues like not being able to get to the drivers side of the engine from underneath easily and it makes engine installation and removal a bitch with the pan on when you are trying to mate up the engine. But it works just fine otherwise and will bend and not crack if you hit something.

I need it because I'm going to run slick tyres and I do t want oil starvation. I'm not bothered about engine installation. The car has had a recent rebuild. I've also herd that they are quite brittle so ill also invert in a sump gard.

Do you have either on your car?

I have one on my current setup...but it is a REW motor that sits very low...and the pan is below the front crossmember.

There is not much chance that you will hit the RX8performance pan..it is above the front crossmember. I have gone off track numerous times into the crap and have never hit the pan on anything

Thanks for the advice. I was planning on going for this one but was unsure as I couldn't fi d any info about it.

Oil starvation is not an issue that I have ever heard of on a stock engine. I am running the stock pan but many track rats I know run the stock pan without issue. I would also not say they are brittle either, I have seen some stock pans with serious damage that did not leak. The windage tray/baffles in the stock pan is also pretty complicated so I would assume some engineering went into it. That is my opinion anyway.

I never had oil starvation issues nor oil temperature problems with the oe pan.
A swinging pickup or a dry sump would be the only solutions worth considering imho.

Thanks for the info guys.

I've been advised from a few people that if I use slick tyres that I need a baffled sump so I just went from that.

Would you recommend a baffled sump with slicks?

I know the OE pan is pretty good and strong. I do t really want to change it of I don't have to bit I'd rather not risk killing a fresh engine.
