k&n has a kit to clean the filter called the recharger kit. it has the cleaner and the new oil in the kit. i just bought it for my intake it cost about $10 if i remember correctly. http://www.knfilters.com/clningacc.htm .i guess its a personal preference with the aerosol can or the squeeze bottle.

You dont need to, All you gotta do is.

Clean it.

and when you apply oil. Press the bottle in a very gental way. and do it in a straight line from the inner circle to the outer circle. only ONCE

Apply to all of the lines. Let it sit there for 10 minutes or so

Then hold it up and look (Dont let any Extra oil drip into your eyes! cuz its not Funny!) see if theres any Grey/white spot on the filter. If yes. Apply a little oil to that spot and let it sit again until you dont see anything else.

Then instlal it back.

I suggest you to clean your filter more often than 50 K miles.

The reason is that, due to the design of this filter *cone type*, it gets dirty REALLY fast .... well maybe just new york but ...

I clean mine every 5K miles or so. Its pretty easy, just look at the center of the filter. If you see lots of black "stuff" covering the middle circle. Its time to clean it.
